Job Title:
Press / Machine Operator Job Description The Press / Machine Operator safely operates and monitors a variety of production equipment to support continuous manufacturing operations while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, this role performs equipment setup and adjustments, routine inspections, minor repairs, quality testing, and documentation to ensure efficient production and compliance with QMS and 5S standards. Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and adjust production equipment to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable operation throughout the shift. Operate dosing systems, presses, mixers, pallet transport systems, kilns, bogie/finger cars, cubers, packaging lines, and strapping equipment as assigned. Perform routine inspections on machines and equipment to identify potential issues and ensure proper operation. Carry out minor repairs and equipment adjustments to reduce downtime and maintain productivity. Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules and procedures. Accurately document all preventive maintenance activities and equipment checks. Perform required quality testing, including density checks and sieve analysis, to verify product quality and consistency. Follow all Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, work instructions, and quality standards during production activities. Accurately complete production, quality, maintenance, and safety records and logs in a timely manner. Maintain 5S standards by keeping work areas, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and free of hazards. Promptly report safety concerns, quality issues, and equipment problems to the appropriate personnel. Follow all company safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures and applicable OSHA requirements. Assist with cleaning and maintaining machines and surrounding areas to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Operate forklifts and material handling equipment if qualified and assigned. Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and support continuous improvement. Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations and maintenance. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years industrial machine operating experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Demonstrated ability to operate, monitor, and adjust production machinery safely and efficiently. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical equipment and production lines. Experience with preventive maintenance tasks on industrial machinery. Ability to read, comprehend, and write in English to follow work instructions, safety procedures, and complete documentation. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to stand for a 12-hour shift and perform repetitive tasks in a production environment. Comfort working with concrete manufacturing processes and related equipment. Basic mechanical aptitude for minor repairs and equipment adjustments. Ability to follow safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and OSHA requirements. Willingness to work day or night shifts as scheduled, including extended hours and overtime. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in concrete manufacturing environments is preferred. Prior experience with extrusion machines, presses, and related production equipment is an asset. Familiarity with press brake operations and extrusion processes is beneficial. Ability to interpret basic blueprints or production drawings is a plus. Forklift experience or certification is preferred. Experience working in loud, dusty, or dirty industrial environments is advantageous. Comfort performing physical work that may involve cleaning equipment and working around concrete. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers. Work Environment This role operates in a loud industrial setting that includes both indoor and outdoor work areas. The environment can become hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and it can be dusty at times due to concrete manufacturing processes. Cleaning machines and working with concrete can be physically demanding and may involve getting dirty. The position follows a regular 12-hour shift schedule, with a day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and a night shift from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with a shift differential available for night shift once in a permanent role. The facility supports extended hours and frequent overtime, often operating five 12-hour shifts from Monday through Friday. Steel-toe footwear is required, and the company offers an annual reimbursement toward steel-toe shoes or boots, including for temporary employees. A brand-new break room and outdoor break area provide space for rest periods and host company events such as picnics during holidays like the Fourth of July and Labor Day. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Uxbridge, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
