Job Title:
Production Technician Job Description This production technician role focuses on preparing parts for anodizing by un-racking and re-racking components using a variety of hand and power tools. You will work with parts used in the medical, defense, and aerospace industries, ensuring they meet quality standards before they move into the anodizing process. The position offers cross-training across multiple tasks within the facility, allowing you to build a broad skill set in a clean, team-oriented production environment. Responsibilities Un-rack parts and re-rack parts onto bases in preparation for the anodizing process. Use hand tools and power tools, including drills, 7/16 ratchets, sockets, wrenches, and pliers, to securely mount parts on racks and bases. Prepare racks and bases to be dipped into anodizing chemicals by ensuring parts are properly positioned and fastened. Perform daily quality inspection of parts, verifying that components meet required standards before and after preparation. Handle and organize parts used in medical, defense, and aerospace applications with a strong focus on accuracy and care. Follow written and verbal work instructions to complete production tasks efficiently and safely. Rotate through various tasks and stations within the facility as part of cross-training, learning all aspects of the production process related to anodizing preparation. Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and in good working condition. Work productively to support team output, knowing that additional voluntary hours may be offered based on productivity. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify and resolve issues related to part preparation, tooling, or quality. Adhere to all safety procedures when using tools, handling parts, and working near anodizing equipment and chemicals. Essential Skills At least 6 months of experience using hand tools and power tools in a production, manufacturing, or similar environment. Proficiency using hand tools such as wrenches, sockets, pliers, and ratchets, including 7/16 ratchets and related tooling. Experience using power tools such as drills for daily production tasks. Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to perform quality checks on parts on a daily basis. Experience performing quality inspection tasks to ensure parts meet required specifications. Ability to work with parts used in medical, defense, and aerospace applications while following quality and handling requirements. Capability to follow safety guidelines when using tools and working around production equipment. Reliability in maintaining consistent attendance and productivity within a single-shift production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience working with anodizing processes or in an anodizing production environment. Experience working with parts or components for the medical, defense, and aerospace industries. Forklift certification or prior forklift operating experience. Willingness to obtain forklift certification through employer-provided training. Comfort working with quality inspection tools and procedures to verify part conformance. Ability to adapt to cross-training and learn multiple tasks within the facility. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a very clean production facility that operates on a single shift. You can choose between two standard schedules: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, each including a 30-minute lunch and additional breaks. Occasional Saturday work is available on a voluntary basis, typically lasting 5 to 7 hours and often offered based on productivity. The facility is not fully temperature controlled and does not have central heat or air conditioning; however, space heaters and fans are brought in as needed to help manage seasonal temperatures. You will regularly use hand tools and power tools such as drills, ratchets, sockets, wrenches, and pliers, and you will work around anodizing equipment and chemicals in a structured, safety-conscious production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dexter, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
