Job Description
Position Summary $18-$19 / hr 2-2-3 Rotating schedule Day shift: 7a-7p Night shift: 7p-7a The Packaging Associate supports daily manufacturing and packaging operations by performing material handling, packaging, labeling, housekeeping, and production support activities. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment while following all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality, food safety, safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures. The Packaging Associate must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, adapt to changing production needs, and maintain a high level of attention to quality and safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follow all company safety procedures and perform assigned work in a safe manner. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all times, including required restrictions regarding jewelry, cell phones, nicotine products, and other prohibited items. Comply with all quality, food safety, safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures. Promptly report quality, food safety, safety, environmental, and production issues to the appropriate supervisor or manager. Perform housekeeping and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift. Identify and address non-conformances and initiate corrective actions as appropriate. Identify opportunities for process and workplace improvements and submit them through the company's See It, Sort It, Report It system. Empty scrap bins at vision systems as needed. Correct and repackage pallets when bags or product fall out of the packaging. Remove corrugate and other materials from production floors. Empty trash from assigned production lines. Maintain adequate material supplies at production machines. Package, label, and prepare work-in-process (WIP) and finished goods. Stretch wrap finished product and properly prepare product for storage. Sort and dispose of scrap materials in the appropriate designated containers. Interpret and follow production schedules to support daily manufacturing requirements. Complete required OPS Tracker entries and production-related documentation. Start and stop PSG equipment as required and respond appropriately to equipment alarms. Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, manual pallet jacks, and barcode scanners, as applicable. Perform additional production, packaging, material handling, and manufacturing support duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor. Remain flexible and transition between tasks or production areas as needed to support changing customer and production demands. Required Skills and Qualifications Basic math skills. Basic computer skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, understand, and follow production schedules and work instructions. Ability to use barcode scanners and other basic production technology. Ability to safely operate or learn to operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and manual pallet jacks. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. Ability to identify and report safety, quality, food safety, and environmental concerns. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a production team. Ability to quickly learn new processes, equipment, and work assignments. Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and customer demands. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted . Ability to stand and work for extended periods, including 12-hour shifts . Ability and willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to perform repetitive packaging, material handling, housekeeping, and production-support activities. Ability to work in a manufacturing/production environment while maintaining required safety and GMP standards. Experience One (1) or more years of related manufacturing, packaging, production, material handling, or warehouse experience preferred. Education High school diploma or GED preferred.
