September 21, 2026 Aerotek is currently seeking 4 experienced 1st Class Marine Shipfitters to support a long-term aircraft carrier availability at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS) in Bremerton, WA . This is an excellent opportunity to join a major U.S. Navy modernization project with work projected through March 2028 . Local Washington Shipfitters are strongly encouraged to apply. Traveling Shipfitters are also encouraged to apply. Pay & Per Diem $32.00 - $34.00/hour DOE $178/day Per Diem Per diem paid on eligible workdays only (days missed or called out are not paid) Overtime opportunities may be available based on production schedules
Note:
Candidates are responsible for their own travel expenses, airfare, lodging, and transportation. Job Duties Perform structural shipfitting repairs, modifications, and modernization work aboard U.S. Navy aircraft carriers. Read and interpret blueprints, NAVSEA drawings, sketches, work packages, and technical specifications. Layout, fit, tack, and install foundations, bulkheads, decks, brackets, stiffeners, inserts, and structural steel components. Utilize burning and gouging equipment for removal and modification of existing shipboard structures. Measure, fabricate, and align structural components to meet naval and customer specifications. Work closely with welders and supervisors to ensure proper fit-up and installation of steel structures. Perform shipboard work in confined spaces, tanks, machinery spaces, overhead structures, and elevated work areas. Support repair and modernization efforts while maintaining quality, safety, and production requirements. Qualifications Previous marine shipfitting experience required. Experience aboard Navy vessels, commercial vessels, or major ship repair/new construction projects preferred. Ability to read and interpret shipyard blueprints and structural drawings. Strong fit-up skills involving carbon steel structural components. Experience laying out and installing foundations, bulkheads, decks, brackets, and structural assemblies. Proficient with shipfitting tools including torch cutting equipment, grinders, magnetic drills, chain falls, come-alongs, and measuring instruments. Ability to work from NAVSEA drawings and specifications. Strong understanding of shipboard safety procedures and quality standards. Security Requirements This work is performed on a secure U.S. Navy installation. Candidates must be able to obtain: DBIDS Credential NAVSEA Badge Access authorization for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and assigned vessels Applicants must be eligible to meet all base and ship access requirements. Shipfitter Test Requirement Candidates will receive a contingent offer of employment following resume review and client approval. To remain employed, candidates must successfully pass the required shipfitter test during their first two days onsite. Failure to pass testing will result in removal from the project. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $34.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
