Headquartered in Raleigh, NC, Paragon supports clients throughout the Eastern United States. What We Need Paragon Safety Group is seeking an experienced Safety Professional to serve as an On-Site Safety Manager at a manufacturing facility in the Carrollton, TX area. This is a temporary W-2 position with full-time hours. The Safety Professional will work on-site on behalf of Paragon's client, partnering with plant leadership, employees, contractors, and the EHS Manager to promote safe operations and ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements. The facility specializes in plastic film extrusion and food storage bag conversion . The successful candidate will identify and correct unsafe working conditions, conduct field inspections and observations, support incident investigations, and help ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable EHS requirements. Key Responsibilities Conduct daily floor observations to ensure safe work practices and PPE requirements are followed. Complete Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) observations and checklists. Identify and mitigate safety hazards throughout production and warehouse areas. Inspect machine guarding and identify potential machine-related hazards. Audit mobile equipment pre-use checklists. Participate in daily management meetings when working the day shift and, in the absence of the EHS Manager, cover the four standard safety questions. Participate in daily Gemba walks with plant leadership when scheduled on either day or night shift. Support investigations of injuries, illnesses, near misses, and other incidents. Support root-cause analysis, corrective-action implementation, and reporting. Evaluate serious injury and fatality (SIF) risks, including falls, electrical hazards, energy control, confined spaces, and machine guarding. Monitor heat conditions and ensure heat-stress prevention measures are followed as needed. Inspect work areas for slip, trip, and fall hazards, including congestion, wet floors, misplaced materials, and product on the floor. Conduct Fold-n-Close audits related to pile-ups and jam-ups. Perform ergonomic assessments and identify opportunities to reduce ergonomic risks. Support EHS inspections, audits, observations, and regulatory compliance activities. Work with contractors to ensure safe work practices are followed. Provide daily and weekly updates and maintain clear documentation of findings, corrective actions, accomplishments, and recommendations. Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or activities require immediate intervention. Qualifications 3-5 years of professional safety experience , preferably in a manufacturing environment. Manufacturing, packaging, consumer products, or related industry experience required. Experience with plastic film extrusion and/or food storage bag conversion is preferred . Strong experience in hazard identification, risk mitigation, safety observations, and incident investigation. Experience conducting root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions. Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards , including applicable 29 CFR 1910 requirements. training is preferred. Knowledge of EPA requirements related to stormwater, hazardous waste, and spill prevention and control. Spanish-speaking or bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly preferred , as a significant portion of the workforce is Spanish-speaking. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, supervisors, and site leadership. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and use stop-work authority when necessary. Site Hazards The facility includes a variety of manufacturing-related hazards, including: Moving and rotating machinery, machine guarding, and electrical hazards Forklifts and other mobile equipment Hot surfaces, molten plastic, and extreme heat Noise exposure Ergonomic risks from manual packing, lifting, and repetitive motion Sharp objects and material-handling hazards Slip, trip, and fall hazards, including platforms, wet floors, congestion, and materials or products in walkways Personal Protective Equipment Required PPE includes: Safety glasses Hearing protection Steel-toe safety shoes; metatarsal protection preferred High-visibility vest Cut-resistant gloves The facility can provide required PPE as needed. Site Access & Onboarding The selected candidate will be required to: Complete site-specific visitor safety orientation. Complete required site-specific onboarding and safety training. Sign an agreement acknowledging site policies. The site will provide a laptop, badge, and other supplies or equipment necessary to perform the assignment. Reporting Structure The Safety Professional will report to the EHS Manager at the plant and will provide regular daily and weekly updates regarding safety activities, observations, incidents, corrective actions, and other EHS priorities. What Success Looks Like Rapid integration into site operations and an understanding of key risks and priorities. Visible improvement in critical safety activities, compliance, and risk-management processes. Closure or meaningful progress on identified EHS gaps, audits, corrective actions, and high-priority initiatives. Strong engagement with site leadership and employees to reinforce safety expectations and accountability. Effective coaching and knowledge transfer so the site is stronger when the assignment concludes. Clear documentation of accomplishments, remaining actions, and recommendations. Improved safety performance, stronger processes, and greater organizational capability.

Pay:

$30.00 - $33.00 per hour
