ABOUT BURNS IN THE KITCHEN
Burns in the Kitchen is a growing custom meal service specializing in family-friendly, health-conscious meals designed around dietary restrictions. Our meals are free from gluten, dairy, soy, peanuts, refined sugar, and seed oils. We prepare customized individual meals, family meals, medically supportive meals, catering orders, and wholesale freezer meals from a professional commercial kitchen in Frisco. We are looking for a dependable, organized, and hardworking Kitchen Production Assistant who can help us increase production while maintaining our high standards for food quality, cleanliness, consistency, and allergy awareness.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Kitchen Production Assistant will work directly alongside the owner and chef during scheduled production shifts. The primary purpose of this position is to help our kitchen produce more meals efficiently by assisting with ingredient preparation, meal assembly, portioning, packaging, labeling, dishwashing, sanitation, and kitchen organization. This position will begin with approximately 10-15 hours per week, concentrated into one or two weekly production shifts. Additional hours and opportunities for advancement may become available as the company grows.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Wash, peel, cut, weigh, and prepare vegetables and other ingredients Prepare ingredients according to written recipes and production lists Assist with preparing sides, sauces, and other basic menu components Accurately weigh and portion proteins, vegetables, grains, sauces, and sides Assemble customized individual meals and family-size orders Package and label meals accurately Verify that customer names, dietary restrictions, and labels match each order Follow allergy-safety and cross-contact prevention procedures Maintain proper food temperatures and storage practices Organize refrigerated, frozen, and dry inventory Assist with receiving and putting away ingredients and supplies Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment Clean and sanitize workstations throughout production Complete kitchen closing, cleaning, and reset procedures Notify the chef of missing ingredients, low inventory, damaged products, production mistakes, or quality concerns Complete other kitchen-production responsibilities as assigned

Dependable, punctual, and ready to work at the scheduled start time Strong attention to detail Able to follow written recipes, instructions, checklists, and portion standards Comfortable using kitchen scales and measuring ingredients accurately Able to work efficiently without sacrificing food quality or cleanliness Willing to learn and follow Burns in the Kitchen's production system Able to communicate clearly when instructions or dietary information are unclear Respectful, team-oriented, teachable, and professional Comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial-kitchen environment Able to work independently after receiving proper training Understands that dietary restrictions and allergy procedures must be taken seriously
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least 18 years old Reliable transportation to our Frisco commercial kitchen Previous kitchen, meal-preparation, catering, food-service, or restaurant experience preferred Current Texas Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain it before or shortly after beginning employment Ability to stand for extended periods and repeatedly bend, reach, and perform kitchen-production tasks Ability to safely lift and move up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to work scheduled production shifts consistently Monday availability is strongly preferred
SCHEDULE
Approximately 10-15 hours per week to begin Hours will generally be concentrated into one or two scheduled production shifts Shifts may vary according to weekly order volume and production needs Additional hours may become available as the company grows Applicants should provide their complete weekly availability when applying
COMPENSATION
$16-$18 per hour, based on experience, reliability, food-safety knowledge, and demonstrated kitchen ability Paid hands-on training 90-day performance review Opportunity for increased responsibility and additional hours based on performance and company growth Potential advancement into a Cook, Lead Production Assistant, or Kitchen Lead position
