SUMMARY The Assistant Production Manager supports the Production Manager in overseeing and coordinating daily manufacturing operations to achieve company goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency. This role plays a key part in planning production activities, supervising team members, and driving continuous improvement within the production environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in developing, implementing, and managing production systems and processes. Plan, review, and adjust production schedules to meet customer demands and operational goals. Estimate labor requirements and assign work to ensure timely completion of job assignments. Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders to effectively direct production activities. Establish and adjust work procedures to improve efficiency and meet production deadlines. Recommend and implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. Analyze and resolve production issues; provide guidance and support to team members. Inspect products to ensure conformance to specifications and oversee machine setup and adjustments. Collaborate with the Production Manager to implement plans, drive performance, and motivate employees to achieve goals. Coordinate with other supervisors and departments to ensure smooth workflow and communication. Assist with material planning, including estimating, requisitioning, and inspecting materials. Support employee development through training, coaching, and performance feedback. Manage team schedules, including vacations and time off, to maintain proper coverage and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in a related field or 3-5 years of relevant manufacturing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a manufacturing or production environment with increasing levels of responsibility. Strong understanding of production processes, scheduling, and workflow coordination. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and customer specifications. Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS) preferred. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and production or ERP systems (e.g., Epicor).

Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Evenings and weekends as needed
