Weekday AM Lay Up and Press Operator Job Description The Weekday AM Lay Up and Press Operator plays a key role in producing high-quality panels used in interior and exterior aircraft parts. In this position, you work with materials and production equipment to lay up, press, cut, and trim panels, ensuring they meet manufacturing standards and contribute to safe, reliable aerospace components. Responsibilities Verify and withdraw required materials from inventory before production begins. Cut and kit materials according to specifications and production schedules. Lay up materials accurately to prepare panels for pressing. Load and unload panels and materials from the press in a safe and efficient manner. Operate press equipment in accordance with established procedures and quality standards. Operate saws and related cutting equipment to size panels as required. Trim panels on the CNC to meet precise dimensions and tolerances. Use hand and power tools to complete production tasks and panel finishing work. Perform general labor tasks to support overall production flow and efficiency. Complete production paperwork accurately and on time to document work performed. Inspect materials and finished panels to identify defects and ensure quality. Participate actively in operational improvement activities to enhance processes and productivity. Cross-train in or transfer to other departments as needed to support production demands. Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment when required and trained. Perform assembly tasks associated with panel preparation and finishing. Carry out other tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to changing priorities. Essential Skills Experience in a production or manufacturing environment, performing general labor tasks. Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively. Capability to operate machinery, including presses, saws, and CNC equipment, following instructions and safety guidelines. Experience with machine operating and basic equipment setup and operation. Ability to perform inspection of materials and finished products to maintain quality standards. Basic assembly skills within a manufacturing setting. Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to learn, following all safety procedures. Strong attention to detail when cutting, kitting, laying up, and trimming materials. Ability to complete production paperwork clearly and accurately. Willingness to actively participate in operational improvement initiatives. Flexibility to cross-train and work in different departments as production needs change. Additional Skills & Qualifications Comfort working in a manufacturing environment where chemicals are present in the air. Strong work ethic and reliability in a weekday AM shift schedule. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established processes. Commitment to safety practices in a production and machine-operating environment.
