Job Description

What to Expect The Piping Quality Control Lead Inspector will proactively support the Quality Control Manager in guaranteeing that all piping related quality control activities (e.g., pipe fabrication, welding, coating, hydrostatic testing, supports, and field installation) conform to engineering designs, industry codes, and regulatory requirements. This position works closely with multiple functional teams to ensure safe, high quality piping installations. It demands solid technical judgment and creative problem-solving skills to backstop field operations. What You'll Do Develop, review, and execute project specific piping QC plans, inspection and test plans, prepare inspection reports, and create weekly reports Perform surveillance and inspections of pipe fabrication, welding, coating, supports, pressure testing, and field installation, ensuring all work conforms to design specifications and approved procedures Generate and maintain accurate documentation—inspection reports, nonconformance reports (NCRs), weld maps, material certifications, and as-built records—and promptly communicate findings to project stakeholders Oversee testing and laboratory activities, scheduling field tests (e.g., hydrostatic pressure, NDT methods), and ensuring calibrated equipment and accredited labs are used for material and coating verification Interpret design drawings and specifications and implement procedures for inspection activities Inspects and documents acceptance of construction activities and installations and identifies conditions that are nonconforming while monitoring corrective actions through closure Make sure all work being performed adheres to the approved (ITP's) Inspection test plans. Help maintain a database through established project standard computer applications What You'll Bring Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification Minimum of 8 years' hands on experience as a piping quality control inspector on largescale industrial projects, including oil and gas facilities and complex chemical plant construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical documents, communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors, and apply corrective action procedures to resolve nonconforming conditions Possesses solid knowledge of the regulatory requirements that drive the quality program and is familiar with key construction codes (e.g., AWS, ASME) Possesses a broad understanding of quality management principles and can apply them through the full project lifecycle—including engineering, environmental compliance, procurement, construction, testing, operations, and commissioning Proficient knowledge in welding parameters and the qualification of welders Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $41.53 - $60.70/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
