Position Summary Theochem Laboratories is seeking a QA Technician to join our Tampa manufacturing team. This is a hands-on position responsible for supporting quality throughout our liquid blending and filling operation . The QA Technician will spend significant time on the manufacturing floor performing inspections and testing, monitoring production, reviewing documentation, identifying quality concerns, and helping ensure products are manufactured and packaged according to established specifications. The QA Technician will also work in the laboratory environment, assisting the R&D department with product testing, sample preparation, evaluations, and other R&D activities. This position is part of the R&D / Quality organization and operates independently from Operations , reporting directly to the Director of R&D and Quality . The successful candidate will play an important role in strengthening our quality culture, supporting R&D, and helping prevent defects, rework, waste, and customer complaints before products leave our facility. Key Responsibilities Perform quality inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products. Monitor liquid blending and filling operations to ensure products meet established specifications. Perform in-process quality checks throughout production and across multiple filling lines. Check product characteristics including appearance, color, odor, viscosity, pH, fill volume/weight, and other applicable specifications. Inspect containers, closures, labels, packaging, and finished products for quality and compliance. Verify batch records, production documentation, labels, and other quality records are complete and accurate. Identify, document, and communicate quality deviations and non-conformances. Escalate quality concerns promptly to the Director of R&D and Quality. Assist with placing product on hold when quality requirements have not been met. Assist with customer complaint investigations and product quality investigations. Help identify root causes of quality problems and support corrective and preventive actions. Perform routine GMP and quality audits throughout the manufacturing facility. Help ensure employees are following established GMP policies, procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements. Maintain accurate quality records and testing documentation. Assist the R&D department with laboratory testing, sample preparation, product evaluations, and formulation-related activities. Conduct laboratory testing and record results accurately under the direction of R&D. Assist with development, testing, and evaluation of new and existing products as needed. Work closely with Production, R&D, Warehouse, and other departments to resolve quality issues. Help identify opportunities to reduce defects, rework, waste, and recurring quality problems. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing and product quality. Participate in quality meetings and provide feedback regarding issues observed on the production floor. They should be comfortable interacting with production employees, asking questions, identifying problems, performing testing, and escalating concerns when a product or process does not meet requirements. This person should have the confidence to say "something isn't right" and make sure the concern is addressed rather than allowing questionable product to move forward. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality control, quality assurance, production, or a related environment preferred. Degree, coursework, or educational background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field preferred. Experience in chemical, cleaning products, personal care, or other manufacturing environments is a plus. Experience with liquid manufacturing, blending, filling, or packaging is preferred. Laboratory experience and familiarity with basic laboratory testing is preferred. Knowledge or previous exposure to GMP, quality control, QA/QC procedures, or batch documentation is a plus. Ability to perform basic quality testing and accurately record results. Basic computer skills. Ability to read and follow written procedures, specifications, and work instructions. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Work Environment This is a hands-on manufacturing and laboratory position . The work will be divided between the production floor and laboratory environment. The position requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, move throughout the manufacturing facility, observe production activities, perform routine quality inspections and testing, and work safely with chemical products and laboratory equipment.
