Summary:
A Quality Control Specialist in the dietary supplement industry is responsible for ensuring that all products meet established standards of quality and safety before they reach consumers. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring quality control processes and procedures. Key responsibilities include conducting inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, maintaining detailed records of quality checks, and identifying areas for improvement. The specialist collaborates with production and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, such as those set by the FDA and GMP regulations. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of industry standards are essential for success in this position. We are hiring for 1st and 2nd Shift.
Responsibilities:
A Quality Control Specialist in the dietary supplement industry is responsible for ensuring that products meet specific standards of quality and safety before they reach consumers. This involves overseeing the entire production process, from raw material selection to finished product testing, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. Their role is critical in safeguarding consumer health and maintaining brand reputation by preventing the distribution of substandard or unsafe products.
Quality ControlAuditing:
Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods. Perform line checks and verification of manufacturing and packaging processes. Audit batch records and verify compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices(GMP).
Production Process Monitoring:
Verify that manufacturing processes comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Monitor critical control points to prevent deviations from batch standards. Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of equipment.
In-Process Testing:
Conduct tests at various stages of manufacturing to ensure composition and quality. Check for uniformity and consistency in capsule or tablet weight, dissolution, and disintegration.
Finished Product Testing:
Perform thorough testing of the final product for active ingredient potency and purity. Ensure compliance with product specifications, including label claims. Test for microbial contamination and other potential safety hazards.
Document and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and audits. Ensure traceability of all materials and products through comprehensive documentation.
Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions:
Investigate quality issues or product failures to determine root causes. Implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for process improvement to enhance product quality and efficiency. Foster a culture of quality and safety awareness within the organization. By focusing on these areas, a Quality Control Specialist can help ensure that dietary supplements are safe, effective, and of high quality, thereby protecting consumer health and maintaining regulatory compliance.
