Quality Specialist Job Description The Quality Specialist performs a wide range of laboratory analyses to support the testing of raw materials, intermediates, stability samples, and finished products. This role focuses on executing analytical and instrumental methods in compliance with quality and safety standards, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting investigations under the guidance of senior staff. The position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to good documentation practices, and a commitment to laboratory safety and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Perform laboratory analyses with minimal supervision using established standards, mobile phases, and reagents. Calibrate, operate, and monitor laboratory equipment such as HPLC, GC, ICP, and other analytical instruments. Analyze raw materials, intermediates, stability samples, and finished products using various analytical and instrumental methods. Perform calculations, collect data, and prepare results for evaluation and review. Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant records in accordance with good documentation practices. Keep supervisors informed of work status, issues, and progress on assigned tasks. Participate in the investigation of out-of-specification (OOS) results under the guidance of supervisor. Apply quality assurance and quality control principles to ensure reliable and consistent test results. Support document control activities by following established procedures and ensuring records remain current and organized. Follow and promote good manufacturing practice (GMP) and food safety requirements in all laboratory activities. Demonstrate and promote positive safety behaviors at all times, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safety tools. Ensure that laboratory areas and equipment operate at the highest safety levels and remain neat, clean, and well organized. Encourage and support compliance with safety directives by all personnel and visitors in the laboratory area, including technicians, quality staff, maintenance, contractors, and guests. Essential Skills Associate degree in a relevant scientific discipline such as chemistry, biology, or a related science field. Broad general knowledge of quality control techniques and methods. Broad understanding of safety requirements, laboratory hygiene, and GMP rules. 0-3 years of laboratory experience. Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Foundational knowledge of quality assurance and quality control practices. Understanding of GMP and FDA-related expectations in a laboratory or food safety environment. Ability to follow written procedures, analytical methods, and standard operating procedures accurately. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing calculations and documenting results. Ability to communicate clearly and keep supervisors informed of work status and issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (such as chemistry, biology, or a related science) is preferred. Exposure to or experience with food safety programs, including HACCP. Familiarity with audit processes and regulatory inspections in a quality or laboratory environment. Experience with document control in a regulated environment. Experience or coursework in biology or related life sciences. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented quality and laboratory setting. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tests, samples, and documentation requirements. Work Environment This role is based in a laboratory environment that uses analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, and ICP, along with standard laboratory equipment and computer systems. The position involves handling chemicals, reagents, and samples, and requires strict adherence to safety procedures, laboratory hygiene, and GMP standards. Team members use Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook, Word, and Excel for communication, documentation, and data reporting. The work setting emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment, with a strong focus on ensuring that all personnel and visitors follow safety guidelines and maintain a neat and orderly laboratory area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Germantown, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
