This role works directly under the Operations Manager and is responsible for making sure every local move is executed to company standards from first walkthrough to final sign-off: crews are prepared and professional, belongings are packed and protected correctly, jobs run on schedule, and customers finish the day satisfied. The Field Manager is equal parts inspector, coach, and problem-solver on the ground — catching issues before they become claims, keeping crews accountable, and giving the Operations Manager an accurate, real-time picture of how local moves are going. Key Responsibilities Quality Control Conduct pre-move and post-move walkthroughs on local jobs to confirm scope, inventory condition, and customer expectations. Perform in-progress and random spot checks on active local jobs to verify packing, wrapping, loading, and protection standards are being followed. Inspect trucks, moving pads, dollies, straps, and packing materials for condition and readiness before dispatch. Review completed job paperwork (bills of lading, inventories, condition reports) for accuracy and completeness. Identify and document pre-existing damage and job-site risks to prevent avoidable claims; follow up on punch-list items until resolved. Track recurring quality issues by crew or job type and report trends to the Operations Manager. Follow up with customers after local jobs to confirm satisfaction and flag concerns before they escalate. Field Supervision Serve as the on-site point of contact for crews and customers on assigned local moving jobs. Oversee crew leads and movers in the field to ensure adherence to RS Moving procedures and UniGroup/United Van Lines and Mayflower service standards. Coordinate in real time with dispatch and the Operations Manager on job progress, delays, staffing needs, and on-site issues. Step in to resolve disputes, customer concerns, or logistical problems on-site before they require escalation. Help plan crew assignments and job sequencing for local moves in partnership with the Operations Manager. Training & Safety Train new crew members on proper packing, loading, furniture protection, and customer-service standards. Provide ongoing coaching and hands-on feedback to crews in the field. Enforce safe lifting practices, proper use of equipment, and PPE compliance on every job. Support incident and accident reporting, and participate in root-cause follow-up when issues occur. Monitor crew compliance with applicable DOT and safety regulations for local moving operations. Reporting & Administration Provide the Operations Manager with regular, accurate updates on job status, crew performance, and quality metrics. Maintain organized, complete documentation for every local job inspected or supervised. Assist the Operations Manager with other local-move operational needs as they arise. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in residential or commercial moving, with prior crew lead or field supervisory experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of proper packing, wrapping, loading, and furniture-protection techniques for household goods. Familiarity with United Van Lines, Mayflower, or other UniGroup service and quality standards is a plus. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; CDL is a plus but not required. Comfortable using basic job documentation and reporting tools (paper or tablet-based inventories, condition reports). Clear, professional communicator who can give crews direct feedback and put customers at ease. Detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and comfortable making judgment calls on-site. Able to lift and carry up to 50+ lbs regularly, and to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs for extended periods. Willing to travel between job sites throughout the Mobile area daily and to work some evenings or weekends based on the move schedule. What RS Moving Offers Hourly pay commensurate with experience. A hands-on leadership role with direct visibility to the Operations Manager and ownership. A stable, growing, family-owned company with deep roots in the Gulf Coast moving industry. The opportunity to shape quality and field standards as the company continues to grow. Equal Opportunity Employer RS Moving & Warehousing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
