For more information about us, check out our website, www.creativebuildsusa.com Creative Builds USA is based in San Diego, CA, and we are currently seeking a Quality Control Manager to work on site out our new project at the Grand Canyon, North Rim, AZ. Job Summary The Quality Control Manager owns quality control across specific projects, from preconstruction through closeout. Develops and administers site-specific Quality Control Plans, leads the three-phase inspection process, and ensures work conforms to contract documents, codes, and manufacturer specifications. Serves as the primary point of accountability for quality on government, commercial, and other projects, working closely with the Superintendent, Safety Manager, and President to protect the company's reputation for craftsmanship and compliance. Essential Functions & Core Responsibilities The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Creative Builds is a small, hands-on team, and every role is expected to pitch in beyond the items listed below when the project or the business needs it. 1. Quality Control Planning Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCPs) in accordance with contract requirements, including three-phase inspection standards on government projects (USACE/NAVFAC-style contracts) where applicable. Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications to identify quality requirements, testing standards, and submittal requirements before work begins. Establish inspection checklists and quality benchmarks for each trade and scope of work. 2. Inspection & Field Quality Assurance Lead preparatory, initial, and follow-up phase inspections for each definable feature of work. Conduct routine site walks to verify work is being performed to contract standards, catching deficiencies before they become costly rework. Coordinate and document required third-party testing and special inspections (concrete, welding, soils, etc.). Maintain daily quality control logs, inspection reports, and photographic documentation. 3. Submittals & Documentation Review subcontractor and supplier submittals for compliance with specifications prior to approval. Maintain the submittal log and track approval status, ensuring materials on site match approved submittals. Prepare and maintain punch lists, tracking items through closeout with subcontractors. 4. Non-Conformance & Corrective Action Identify, document, and track non-conforming work through resolution. Issue non-conformance reports and coordinate corrective action with subcontractors and the Superintendent. Escalate unresolved quality issues to the Project Manager and CEO with clear recommendations. 5. Compliance & Reporting Ensure quality documentation meets requirements for government, bonded, and private client contracts. Maintain organized, audit-ready quality files for each project. Support closeout documentation, including as-built verification and warranty documentation. 6. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work with the Superintendent on schedule and sequencing to prevent quality issues caused by rushed work. Partner with the Safety Manager to coordinate site inspections without duplicating effort. Support proposal and preconstruction efforts by providing quality control approach and staffing plans when requested. This position has no direct reports. The Quality Control Manager provides functional direction to subcontractor personnel on quality matters and partners closely with field leadership to enforce standards. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in construction quality control, quality assurance, or a related field. Federal project work experience is required. Working knowledge of three-phase inspection processes and government contract quality requirements (USACE, NAVFAC, or similar). Certified Quality Manager - Construction (CQM-C) certification required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Strong working knowledge of building codes, construction means and methods, and industry-standard specifications (CSI MasterFormat). Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, defensible inspection reports and documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred. Valid driver's license required. Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, is preferred. Physical Demands & Work Environment Regularly required to walk active construction sites, including uneven terrain, scaffolding, and areas under active construction. Ability to climb ladders and stairs, and to work at heights consistent with construction site conditions. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally. Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, noise, and other typical construction site conditions. Required to wear all designated personal protective equipment (PPE) while on job sites.
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
