Director of Manufacturing/Plant Manager Role Summary:
The Quality Manager will report directly to the Director of Manufacturing/ Plant Manager. The Quality Manager will plan, coordinate, and direct quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. Direct the activities of suppliers, production employees, and customers to resolve quality problems and continuously improve the level of quality. Drive cost savings initiatives and track progress towards plant goals. Lead all safety efforts and run the Safety Team Meetings. Act as the ISO and AIB Practitioner/Leader. Manage and complete paperwork for all state and federal mandated environmental compliance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintaining and developing closedloop quality system driven to reduce process variation and ensure plant compliance. Act as change agent to drive continuous improvement of production and service processes to improve quality and increase efficiency, which includes root cause analysis and problem solving. o Formulate and maintain quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers and/or CI Organization to maximize product reliability and minimize costs. Develop and implement product quality plans and procedures by overseeing gauge requirements, frequency, responsibility and methods to ensure compliance to process and product specifications. oDirect workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure quality control over raw materials and final products. Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to product quality and reliability. Operational Effectiveness Serve as customer contact for quality issues. Represent Superior Lithographics at customer locations. Respond to, evaluate, and resolve customer complaints Track and manage customer feedback regarding quality. Direct activities, duties, and projects of CI personnel. Implement practices and controls to drive an effective supplier management system. Work with Raw material vendors on material specifications and process/track vendor complaints Oversee new business transition. Oversee Continuous Improvement activities and champion new projects Drive cost savings initiatives and track progress towards plant goals. Manage customer specification system. Oversee trials. Create and communicate trial plans. Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Superior Lithographers' good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Safety, Respect, Quality, Communication, Teamwork and Creativity. Drive successful onboarding of new business.
Safety Policies and Practices:
Follow all company safety policies, including machine guarding, PPE (personal protective equipment), lockout/tagout, and safe lifting practices. Follow all Plant rules, Processes, and Hygiene procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods. Keep work area clean and organized: remove scrap, sweep, and maintain clear walkways in accordance with housekeeping standards.
Qualifications:
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor's degree in Business, or related field preferred 35 years' experience in quality, or equivalent experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to lead and direct others Prior management or supervisory experience preferred Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet research skills Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control theories Familiarity with food safety (GFSI) schemes BRC, SQF, etc. Knowledge of offset printing process, folding carton manufacturing and/or food manufacturing Experience in implementation of technical testing in production environments General knowledge of printing and converting technologies preferred Visual Color Discrimination, the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors.
