Job Description

A leader in technology and innovation, Southwire Company, LLC is one of North America's largest wire and cable producers. Southwire and its subsidiaries manufacture building wire and cable, utility products, metal-clad cable, portable and electronic cord products, OEM wire products and engineered products. In addition, Southwire supplies assembled products, contractor equipment, electrical components, hand tools and jobsite power and lighting solutions. The company also offers digital solutions including contractor planning and utility grid resiliency as well as field services including cable testing, rejuvenation and replacement to support our customers as a value-add partner. The purpose of Southwire's College Programs is to provide valuable experience to students pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher. Our goal is to give students meaningful work that builds on what they are learning in the classroom. Our programs are project based. Students will receive a project at the beginning of the summer and present it in our project expo at the end of the summer.   • [[custom_Max]] Job Summary The Director of Quality provides overall leadership, direction, and governance for quality management across multiple manufacturing sites for a manufacturing division.
This role establishes and deploys a cohesive quality management approach (strategy, standards, systems, and routines) that strengthens compliance, improves customer confidence, and enables sustained improvement while driving a culture of continuous improvement. The role develops site level quality leadership, aligns quality initiatives with operational and business objectives, governs a multi-year divisional quality improvement roadmap focused on sustained reduction of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and customer reported defect rates (PPM), and provides senior quality leadership support for designated business critical customer accounts.

Key Responsibilities Develop and deploy a divisional quality strategy aligned with business objectives and customer expectations. Establish consistent quality standards, systems, and metrics across all assigned manufacturing sites. Benchmark divisional quality performance against industry standards and provide leadership on quality trends, risks, and opportunities. Lead quality governance and capability across multiple manufacturing facilities, including coaching, mentoring, and developing plant quality managers. Lead the development and governance of a multi year divisional quality improvement roadmap aligned to sustained reductions in COPQ and customer reported defect rates (PPM). Review site level quality performance, identify systemic issues, and drive corrective and preventive actions. Ensure compliance with regulatory, industry, and customer quality requirements through effective audits, assessments, and management reviews. Lead responses to major customer or regulatory quality issues, ensuring disciplined containment, root cause, and prevention, and provide senior quality leadership support for designated business critical customer accounts. Partner with operations, engineering, and supply chain to integrate quality into process design, change management, and continuous improvement routines. Specialized Degree:
Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field. 8-11 Years of Experience Field(s) of
Expertise:
Progressive experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related leadership roles within industrial or manufacturing environments.
Licenses and Certifications:
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent demonstrated experience. Preferred Education & Experience Master's degree 12-14
