Quality Control Manager - Beverage Canning OperationsPosition Title Quality Control Manager Department Quality Assurance / Production Reports To Operations Manager / COO Job Summary The Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining all quality and food safety standards within the beverage canning operation. This role ensures that all products are manufactured, filled, packaged, and distributed in compliance with company standards, GMP regulations, FDA requirements, and applicable food safety programs. The Quality Control Manager will lead quality inspections, monitor production processes, manage laboratory testing, and work closely with production teams to ensure product consistency, safety, and compliance. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and SOPs for beverage canning operations. Monitor production lines to ensure compliance with GMP, sanitation, HACCP, and food safety standards. Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, in-process products, finished goods, packaging materials, and production equipment. Review batch records, production logs, and quality documentation for accuracy and compliance. Oversee quality testing including pH, Brix, carbonation levels, seam integrity, fill weights, microbiological testing, and shelf-life evaluations. Investigate product deviations, customer complaints, and non-conformance issues while implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory and quality testing equipment. Coordinate with production, warehouse, procurement, and R&D departments to maintain product consistency and quality standards. Train employees on quality standards, GMP practices, sanitation procedures, and food safety requirements. Prepare for and participate in internal audits, FDA inspections, and third-party audits. Maintain records related to quality assurance, testing, sanitation, and compliance programs. Monitor environmental and sanitation programs throughout the facility. Approve or reject raw materials and finished products based on established specifications. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or related field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in beverage manufacturing, food production, or canning operations. Strong knowledge of
GMP, HACCP, FDA
regulations, and food safety systems. Experience with beverage canning quality standards and testing procedures. Understanding of carbonation systems, seam inspections, sanitation controls, and production line quality monitoring. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management documentation systems. Preferred Certifications HACCP Certification PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) SQF or Food Safety Certification GMP Training Certification Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a production facility. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Comfortable working in manufacturing and warehouse environments with varying temperatures and noise levels. Work Environment This position operates primarily within a beverage manufacturing and canning facility. The Quality Control Manager must maintain strict attention to cleanliness, food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance at all times.
Pay:
$51,306.99 - $61,789.07 per year
