Job Title:
Quality Manager Essential Skills Minimum of 7 years of quality systems experience in a relevant industry, such as paints or coatings. Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in process mapping and development, and statistical tools like DOE and MSA. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio). Experience in an SAP environment is desirable. Team-oriented problem-solving skills and experience leading large teams. Understanding of business management systems and standards (e.g., ISO9000, TS16949). Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially for writing work instructions or creating PowerPoint presentations for training. Additional Skills & Qualifications Manufacturing experience, particularly in a quality role with quality systems implementation experience. Job Description This strategic role is essential to maintaining customer satisfaction and implementing effective cost control and waste reduction strategies. The position oversees the Site Quality Control Department and the Site Shading Department, focusing on addressing customer complaints and fostering continuous improvement in quality control and color matching. Responsibilities Follow all established safety rules and procedures. Demonstrate integrity according to the company's Code of Conduct. Assemble teams to perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for non-conforming internal batches. Promote quality systems awareness through regular communication with all associates. Lead and ensure all activities adhere to procedures while seeking opportunities for improvement using lean principles (ALPS). Stay updated on changes to management system standards and ensure these changes are implemented in the department's business process. Collaborate with sales and marketing to effectively manage and resolve significant customer problems through onsite product evaluations. Communicate with the Commercial Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure clear communication with customers. Improve product and process performance through analysis and coordinated work with the RDI and Production Department. Support activities associated with the Regional ISC, Commercial, RDI, CI, and Quality Teams. Partner with RDI and Commercial to maintain appropriate methods and standards. Lead and direct the work of the multi-shift QC department and Shading group. Lead and direct the work of a QA documentation department producing customer-facing documents, including test reports and SDS. Manage product complaint investigations by directing the work of the Quality Assurance Analyst. Work Environment The work environment consists of managing a team of 30 reports across three shifts, including 12-15 Technicians, Plant Process Chemists, middle management, and supervisors. The role involves using various tools and technologies to ensure quality control and improvement. #LI-SC1 Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Waukegan, IL.
