TFT, A Firefighter Legacy The Opportunity The Quality Manager leads the quality team and owns the effective operation and continual improvement of our quality management system. This leader works across Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Receiving, suppliers, customers, and certification partners to prevent defects, solve difficult problems, and ensure that parts, processes, and finished products meet established requirements. This role is for a hands-on leader with a bias for action: someone who gets to the facts, makes timely decisions, follows corrective actions through to verified results, and never compromises integrity when quality or safety is at stake. What You Will Do Lead, coach, and develop assigned quality and receiving personnel; set priorities, assign work, provide technical direction, and hold the team accountable for results. Own and continually improve the quality management system and maintain compliance with applicable customer, company, certification, and regulatory requirements. Lead cross-functional problem solving, containment, root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, and effectiveness verification. Make or coordinate the disposition of nonconforming parts, subassemblies, and finished goods in partnership with Operations and Engineering. Establish, analyze, and report quality metrics and key performance indicators; use the data to reduce defects and scrap, improve process capability, and sustain results. Plan internal audits and lead or support audits conducted by ISO, UL, FM, customers, and other agencies. Prepare management review information and ensure follow-up actions are completed. Lead customer complaint, return, and warranty investigations and provide clear, timely responses supported by effective corrective action. Partner with Purchasing to approve suppliers, monitor supplier quality, resolve supplier issues, and strengthen supplier performance. Oversee receiving and in-process inspection criteria and ensure measurement and test equipment is appropriate, calibrated, maintained, and traceable. Develop, review, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, records, forms, and other controlled documents. Support new product and process planning through quality requirements, inspection methods, control plans, risk assessments, and production-readiness reviews. Communicate quality priorities and risks clearly throughout the plant and with customers, suppliers, auditors, and certification bodies. Escalate significant quality, safety, compliance, or customer risks promptly and hold production or shipment when requirements are not met, consistent with company authority and procedures. Manage department staffing, equipment, training, and budget needs and recommend investments that support quality objectives. Complete performance reviews within 30 days of the due date and provide recommendations regarding personnel actions, discipline, and termination. What You Bring A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field and at least two years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required experience in a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of applicable ISO 9000-series standards and experience maintaining an effective quality management system. Practical knowledge of manufacturing methods, machining, prints, specifications, test results, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Experience with metrology equipment and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is preferred. Experience leading audits, structured problem solving, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and data-based decision making. The ability to lead people, influence cross-functional teams, communicate directly and respectfully, and work independently with minimal supervision. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. The ability to manage several priorities, work effectively under time pressure, and work early mornings, evenings, or weekends when critical needs require it.
