Job Description

Quality Engineer We are recruiting for a Quality Engineer at a food manufacturer near Burlington, NC. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role with significant time on the production floor, investigating quality issues, leading root cause analysis and CAPAs, supporting audits, enforcing GMPs, and training employees. What you'll do: Support the Quality Manager in maintaining and improving the site Quality Management System Ensure procedures, forms, and work instructions are current and properly implemented on the floor Assist with document reviews, updates, and change control Verify quality records are complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory and audit requirements Supervise daily quality assurance activities across fabrication, packaging, and sanitation operations Provide real-time floor leadership to ensure adherence to GMPs, hygiene, and food safety standards Monitor process controls, CCPs, and CPs, escalating deviations promptly Deliver GMP, hygiene, and product quality training to operators and new employees Oversee in-process checks, finished product testing, and environmental monitoring Conduct routine GMP, sanitation, and process audits Lead initial investigations for nonconformances, process deviations, or quality defects Perform data collection, support root cause analysis, and support CAPA actions Partner with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain on quality issues Serve as the on-shift quality resource for operational troubleshooting What you need: 3-5 years of experience in food industry or a related regulated manufacturing environment Bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, chemistry, biology, or engineering preferred, or approximately 10 years of directly relevant experience Knowledge of HACCP, SQF or
BRC, FSMA/FDA
requirements, and GMP Experience with regulatory audits, root cause analysis, and CAPA Familiarity with packaging lines, bakery processing equipment, and sanitation processes a plus ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred, not required English required, conversational Spanish preferred
Schedule:
Fully onsite, 12-hour 2-2-3 day shift schedule.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
