Job Description

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. This is an on-site position, and no relocation assistance will be provided. Candidates must live within commuting distance of our Snow Hill, NC facility or be willing to relocate at their own expense. The company's flagship brands include ShoreMaster, HydroHoist, Neptune, and Tide Tamer; additional brands include RhinoDock, PolyDock Products, ShoreMaster Fabrics, RotoMoldUSA, HyPower, and Firstmate. Our team is growing, and we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong engineering standard industry practices experience who is ready to play a key role in supporting design engineering, product development, and cross-site initiatives.
Position Summary:
The Quality Lead is responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving the Quality Management System for a marine manufacturing operation. This position leads quality activities across receiving, fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, finishing, final inspection, and shipping. The Quality Lead/Manager works closely with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Materials, Customer Service, and suppliers to prevent defects, reduce rework and warranty issues, improve first-pass yield, and ensure products meet engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and company quality standards. This is a hands-on shop-floor leadership position requiring regular interaction with production employees and direct involvement in problem solving and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead and maintain the company's Quality Management System and quality standards. Monitor production processes to ensure products meet drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. Perform quality audits and inspections throughout the manufacturing process. Identify quality issues, manage nonconforming material, and lead corrective actions and root-cause investigations using quality problem-solving tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, and 8D. Partner with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve processes. Track quality metrics, including defects, rework, scrap, customer complaints, and warranty issues. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve First Pass Yield and reduce defects and rework. Maintain accurate quality documentation and provide quality updates to management. Promote a strong culture of quality throughout the manufacturing operation.
Qualifications:
5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, with 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role. Strong understanding of manufacturing drawings, specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and inspection methods. Experience with quality inspections, measurement equipment, and identifying manufacturing defects. Strong root-cause analysis, problem-solving, and corrective action skills. Experience with nonconforming material and quality documentation. Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, welding/fabrication, mechanical assembly, and dimensional inspection. Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills with the ability to work hands-on with production teams. Experience with quality data, process improvement, Lean manufacturing, and supplier quality. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard business software; ERP/MRP experience preferred. Marine manufacturing, aluminum fabrication, ISO 9001, or Quality Management System experience is a plus. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field preferred. Why Join Waterfront Brands? $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
