Sabert will not commence an employment-based immigration case to fill this open position The Quality Leader is responsible for developing and executing the quality strategy for a multi-facility, multi-substrate (pulp, plastic, paper) food packaging manufacturing network. This role drives a customer centric proactive quality culture centered on process capability and prevention rather than end-of-line inspection. The position oversees Quality Control, Quality Engineering, and Quality Assurance and plays a key leadership role in shaping and delivering Sabert's North American business strategy. Strategy, Governance and Compliance Leads the transformation to a proactive, data-driven quality culture with an emphasis on process capability, statistical control, and risk prevention versus product inspection. Participates in the development and execution of the overall North America business strategy, serving as the quality voice and partner to Operations, Commercial, R&D, Supply Chain, and Sustainability. Defines the overarching operational strategy for quality across all North American facilities and ensures effective tactical plans, standards, and controls are in place to achieve target performance. Ensures adherence to all relevant food safety and regulatory requirements for materials and finished products, including FDA, 21 CFR, GMPs, BRC and applicable customer and industry standards. Supports international operations on key quality issues, quality system design, and harmonization of standards, as needed. Business Planning and Operational Execution Owns the annual operating and capital budgets for the quality function across North America; manages spending to deliver targets while investing in capability and systems. Sets annual and mid-term goals and KPIs for the quality organization, cascades objectives, and manages execution to achieve results within budget. Supports efforts to achieve, maintain, and continuously improve BRC certification at all North American sites. Identifies and implements the policies, procedures, and work standards needed to consistently produce product that meets specifications, is free of defects, and delivers on customer requirements while building organizational capability. Partners with Plant Management and Engineering to ensure quality is integrated into asset strategies, new equipment, and process changes. Best Practices, Systems and Continuous Improvement Directs the development, standardization, and deployment of quality best practices, tools, and systems across North American plants to achieve world-class quality performance. Serves as the senior quality expert and internal consultant on major company initiatives (new materials, technologies, product launches, and sustainability programs), developing robust quality and food safety solutions to complex business challenges. Leads and/or participates on cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve systemic quality and food safety issues, leveraging structured problem-solving, root cause analysis, and risk assessment methodologies. Establishes, tracks, and reports meaningful metrics to monitor performance and drive accountability, including audit compliance, product and process capability indices, DPM shipped, customer complaints, cost of poor quality, and corrective/preventive action effectiveness. Champions a continuous improvement mindset, integrating Lean/Six Sigma methods, statistical process control, and best-in-class failure testing to drive ongoing learning and a constant focus on the customer. People Leadership Builds, leads, and develops a high-performing multi-site quality organization, including Quality Control, Quality Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams. Recruits, selects, and retains top quality talent; provides clear performance expectations, regular feedback, and robust performance management for all direct reports. Coaches and mentors leaders and high-potential talent within the quality function, creating strong succession pipelines at plant and regional levels. Creates an environment that engages, motivates, and empowers team members, emphasizing collaboration, accountability, and ownership for quality and food safety. Ensures ongoing training and development for all quality staff, including technical competencies (GMPs, BRC, SPC, failure analysis) and soft skills (communication, problem-solving, project management). Fosters a positive, inclusive work environment with open communication and strong partnership with Operations and other functions. Other Works in full accordance with company policies and procedures related to employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance. Travels up to 50% of the time to North American plants and, as needed, to international locations. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Deep knowledge of quality management in food packaging or related regulated manufacturing environment, including GMPs, QA paradigms, failure testing, SPC, and enterprise-wide quality systems. Detailed knowledge ofISO 9000, FDA
regulations, 21 CFR, BRC and other GFSI schemes, and related food safety standards. Proven track record of driving results, with high levels of personal initiative, energy, and ownership. Superior written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills and the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders. Demonstrated change management capability, including leading cultural and process transformation across multiple sites. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work effectively in a matrixed, multi-site organization. Strong service orientation and customer mindset, with experience partnering directly with key customers on quality expectations and issue resolution. Strong project management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, and execute complex, multi-site projects. Demonstrated ability to develop creative, pragmatic business solutions grounded in sound judgment and data-driven decision making. Six Sigma Green Belt (minimum); Black Belt or equivalent experience preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and advanced experience with Minitab and Excel; working knowledge of Access and enterprise systems such as SAP strongly preferred.
