Direct Hire Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Supervisor to help lead quality and food safety activities within a fast-paced food and beverage manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, this position will supervise Quality Technicians, support daily production operations, address food safety and quality concerns, and help ensure products consistently meet company, customer, and regulatory standards. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being involved on the production floor, developing employees, solving problems, and working collaboratively with operations to continuously improve product quality and food safety. Key Responsibilities Supervise and provide day-to-day leadership to Quality Technicians. Ensure products and manufacturing processes meet customer, company, food safety, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate employee schedules, work assignments, job rotations, training, vacation, PTO, and timecard approvals. Coach, mentor, and develop Quality Technicians, including conducting performance evaluations and addressing performance or disciplinary issues when necessary. Partner with production leadership to resolve quality concerns and maximize product quality and reliability. Address food safety and quality issues as they arise and escalate concerns to appropriate leadership when corrective action is required. Participate in internal audits and assist with identifying and implementing corrective actions. Support root cause investigations involving product holds, customer complaints, quality deviations, and other concerns. Help develop and deliver food safety and quality training for plant employees. Support quality improvement and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform incubation sample inspections and assist with sample collection and submission for quality programs. Retrieve case samples from the Quality Control laboratory for testing, customer requests, and product holds. Maintain adequate quality supplies in the laboratory and throughout production areas. Provide coverage for Quality Technicians when needed. Maintain accurate and timely quality documentation and records. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Quality Assurance, or a related scientific discipline preferred. At least 3 years of professional experience, preferably within food, beverage, consumer products, or manufacturing. 2-5 years of supervisory, lead, or related leadership experience preferred. Experience working with quality systems, quality measurements, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and problem resolution. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to coach employees and build productive relationships across departments. Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities may change throughout the day. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Oracle experience is a plus. Ability to maintain accurate records and complete required documentation in a timely manner. Physical & Work Environment Requirements This position regularly works in both laboratory and manufacturing environments. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, potentially up to 12 hours during a shift. Ability to frequently travel throughout the manufacturing facility and use stairs. Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Position may require reaching, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical activity. Manufacturing-floor work requires appropriate PPE, which may include safety glasses, hearing protection, bump cap, and skid-resistant safety footwear. Employees must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including requirements related to hair restraints, jewelry, nails, eyelashes, food, beverages, gum, and other potential contamination risks. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a hands-on quality leader who can balance people management with day-to-day problem solving on the production floor. You should be comfortable working directly with Quality, Production, and Operations teams and be willing to step in wherever needed to keep quality and food safety standards on track.
