The Sr. Manager, Total Quality provides expert-level quality assurance, continuous improvement, and food safety guidance to Crown's Food Manufacturing facilities. This role may have an emphasis on 2-piece can manufacturing, 3-piece can manufacturing, Sheet coating, and Coil coating.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide problem-solving leadership on technical, quality, and food safety matters relating to food can and end performance Provide Corporate Quality oversight of the designated plants within area of responsibility Provide Quality Manager training and coverage of assigned facilities during transitions and/or absences Ensure adherence to customer requirements, quality control plans, SQF (Safe Quality Food) requirements, and quality/ food safety policies Aid plants in customer complaint responses, recalls, disposition of held product, and supplier claims Complete food safety related customer questionnaires and documentation requests Analyze process performance trends, conduct hazard analyses, identify corrective actions, and enact preventive measures within area of responsibility Conduct audits and surveys of Crown facilities, suppliers, warehouses, and customers Participate as the Quality subject matter expert on any steering committees involving assigned facilities or area of responsibility Collaborate with other members of the Corporate Quality team as well as the company's Manufacturing, Engineering, and Technical Service divisions to develop and implement system improvements, strategic plans, process changes, studies and projects Contribute to the update and development of quality and food safety procedures and policies Travel requirement: 50% Job Requirements The ideal candidate would possess the following attributes: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Quality Management Systems, Project Management or a related Engineering discipline. Minimum ten (10) years hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment with proven Quality Management System oversight capability. Effective verbal and written communication skills, whether face-to-face, via telephone, by email, or through formal correspondence Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to professionally interact with all levels of plant personnel, company management, customers, suppliers, and auditors. Thorough understanding of common quality, food safety, and problem-solving tools including Control Plans, SPC (Statistical Process Control), Process Capability, Pareto charts, Histograms, Gauge R&R, FMEA, HACCP, GMP's, Continuous Improvement and Lean Six Sigma principles Proficiency in data interpretation, root cause investigations, problem solving, and corrective action implementation Background in SQF, BRC, GFSI or ISO compliance and/or auditing Working knowledge of manufacturing concepts related to the processes involved in the manufacture of food cans Knowledge of external customer requirements, processes, and expectations preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Teams) Strong administrative, organizational, and leadership skills Self-motivated and eager to take the initiative, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting and as an individual Committed to on-going personal development and career growth Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate may lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Working Conditions Will be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting in a plant environment as well as in an office.
