Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager to oversee all aspects of quality management. The Quality Assurance - Quality Control (QA-QC) Manager ensures incoming ingredients, work-in-process components, and finished products conform to company and customer requirements. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Is responsible for plant documentation systems, including the control of quality systems documents and programs (policies, procedures, work instructions, food safety and quality recordkeeping and formulas). Coordinates and conducts internal plant audits, inspecting corrective and preventive action programs. Creates and maintains product spec sheets and nutritional information. Assists with new product processing from special batch phase through initial production, involved with scaling of ingredients. Assists with overseeing ingredient, packaging, and finished product traceability and mock recall programs. Coordinates product showings, physical, chemical, and analytical testing of ingredients, process and finished products, includes shelf-life verification. Reviews food safety and quality data and provides input. Investigates nonconforming product incidents and consumer/customer complaints, conducting root cause analysis and leading corrective action efforts. Develops and presents employee trainings, documenting attendance and reporting to external agencies as required. Coordinates HACCP and food quality risk assessments, audits, and scheduled reviews. Leads in-plant project(s) to reduce consumer complaints or other quality issues. Receives incoming bulk ingredients, ensuring proper receiving procedures are followed. Tests bulk ingredients for compliance to specification requirements. Collects samples and tests selected incoming ingredients for compliance to specification requirements. Ensures all equipment including ovens, mixers, and other processing equipment is working properly; escalating any issues as needed. Releases ingredients based on compliance to specifications or other requirements. Performs line checks to ensure all food safety and food quality parameters are met. Collects samples, performing product quality checks to ensure all parameters are met. Places non-conforming product on hold pending further evaluation. Collects samples, tests ingredients, and places finished products on hold as required. Releases products based on compliance to customer and company requirements. Notifies management as soon as possible of observed conditions, ingredients, or products that may not meet food safety, food quality or customer or company requirements; makes suggestions on how to address those concerns. Leads and maintains all documentation for third party audits. Completes all records accurately, legibly, and timely. Keeps equipment and environment neat, clean, and orderly at all times. Is reliable and punctual in reporting to work as scheduled. Performs other duties/projects as assigned. Required Competencies Ability to use standard equipment such as water activity, pH meter, fat analyzer, etc Basic math and computer skills Ability to perform all production processes for all product lines and train others Strong organizational skills and great attention to detail Basic understanding of machine operations Self-motivated, solid work ethic, willingness to learn and take direction Education & Experience Bachelor's degree At least 2 years of experience in QA/QC, with experience maintaining a HACCP plan SQF and HACCP knowledge; SQF Practitioner and/or PCQI certification preferred Knowledgeable and experienced in food safety programs and policies, to include government regulations, USDA, GFSI, HACCP, GMP, PCQI, FSMA, and allergen programs Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
