Job Description:
Responsible for the supervision of Quality Department activities in a variety of manufacturing areas in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and standards to achieve established production schedules and desired quality levels. This position will grow into the Quality Manager position in 2 years, due to a planned retirement. We are looking for someone who will develop into this role.Quality Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage Control Plans and maintain quality system requirements.
- Schedule, develop, and manage Layered Process Audits (LPAs).
- Maintain Incoming Supplier Part Inspection requirements and inspection lists.
- Manage ICC audit requirements and Grants Pass quality procedures.
- Utilize AS400 reporting, WRKQRY, QlikView, Qlik Sense, and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
- Leverage Microsoft Copilot AI, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to improve reporting and communication.
- Manage and maintain the Grants Pass SharePoint site.
- Administer Microsoft Approvals workflows and processes.
- Field and manage customer concerns, CTQ Alerts, and CAPA activities.
- Analyze customer trends using OBKA, DMRs, and other quality metrics to drive corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Sales and Plant teams to resolve quality issues and improve customer satisfaction.
- Supervise and develop a Quality Team of three employees.
- Participate in and facilitate Quality-related Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage calibration programs and measurement system requirements.
- Lead capability studies, Statistical Process Control (SPC), A3 problem-solving, and Gage R&R evaluations.
- Drive process improvements through data analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation. General Supervisory Responsibilities
- Interprets, applies, and/or enforces all company policies, programs, rules, regulations, labor contracts, and safety rules.
- Achieves departmental, plant, and corporate goals for safety, quality and productivity.
- Promotes clean, safe work areas thought the plant by continuously checking for hazardous conditions.
- Maintains employee morale by portraying a positive image of the company.
- Develops, directs and manages manufacturing personnel and trains them to properly utilize all equipment and tools.
- Directs manufacturing personnel to maintain product quality and meet customers' requirements.
- Consistently administers company policies and practices regarding attendance, performance, etc.
- Communicates with employees on a regular basis.
- Participates in activities such as training and safety programs in order to enhance the overall effectiveness of the work area(s) involved.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 3-6 years supervisory experience preferred in manufacturing.
- Maintains the technical and managerial skills required to effectively administer the production process.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, delegation and conflict resolution skills.
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be adaptable to change and have the ability/desire to make a difference.
- Solid math skills and measurements are essential.
- Ability to read a drawing.
- Knowledge of CNC computerized equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Experience in finishing/assembly of wood components is a plus.
- Knowledge of the cabinet industry is a plus.
Education:
BS degree or AS degree in a technical or business related field preferred.Work Environment:
- Office environment with frequent environmental exposure to low-grade radiation from computer monitors
- Manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to wood dusts and cabinet-making related materials.
- Wearing of Personal Protection Equipment required when on manufacturing floor: eye and ear protection.
