A255206 Responsibilities About the Team Trust and Safety Operations is a pivotal team within U.S. Data Security. We strive to enable TikTok to become the most trusted and secure platform in the US through operational excellence in content moderation via innovations in technology, optimization in processes and investment in people. We ensure that we enforce our policies based on our community guidelines and we take appropriate actions in a timely manner to minimize risks on our platform to our users and advertisers. This team performs a critical function that supports our efforts to address objectionable or disturbing content. Content that this role interacts with includes images, video, and text related to every-day life, but it can also include (but is not limited to) bullying; hate speech; child abuse; sexual assault; torture; bestiality; self-harm; suicide; and murder. It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content on a daily basis. About the Role The Manager of Moderation Quality is a critical leadership role on TikTok's USDS Trust and Safety Safety Operations team, responsible for building and leading the team that serves as the last line of defense for platform quality. You will own the comprehensive quality framework for all of your LOB moderation operations, ensuring that our in-house and BPO teams enforce TikTok's policies with the highest degree of accuracy and consistency. You will lead a team of expert Quality Analysts, guiding them to uncover data-driven insights, identify systemic risks, and translate quality signals into actionable business intelligence. As a leader, you will be responsible for not only the strategic direction of our quality programs but also for the growth, development, and well-being of your team. Working cross-functionally with leaders in Operations, Policy, Product, and Engineering, you will be the central voice of moderation quality, driving the initiatives that protect our community and uphold the integrity of our platform. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Quality Analysts, fostering a culture of analytical rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage team performance, set clear goals, and provide regular coaching and feedback to support career growth and development.
- Champion team well-being and resilience, implementing best practices to support individuals working with graphic content.
- Oversee resource planning and allocation for the quality team to ensure adequate support for all moderation queues and BPO partners. Quality Strategy & Framework Ownership
- Design, own, and continuously improve the end-to-end quality assurance framework for all USDS Safety Operations LOB moderation, including audit methodologies, calibration processes, and RCA procedures.
- Define the strategic roadmap for quality, translating performance data and error trends into long-term initiatives that address systemic risks and improve moderator accuracy at scale.
- Set and enforce quality KPI targets for all internal and vendor teams, holding partners accountable for meeting performance standards.
- Oversee the evaluation of moderation AI model performance from a quality perspective, providing strategic recommendations to improve model-assisted enforcement workflows. Stakeholder Management & Influence
- Serve as the primary quality stakeholder for leadership and cross-functional partners, translating complex quality data into clear, strategic narratives.
- Use data-driven insights to influence key decisions in Policy, Training, Product, and Scaled Operations, ensuring the voice of quality is a key factor in the moderation lifecycle. Data-Driven Insights & Reporting
- Drive the vision for "quality intelligence," directing the team to produce impactful analyses, dashboards, and business reviews that inform executive-level strategy.
- Synthesize quantitative and qualitative findings from your team's analyses to report on the overall health of moderation quality to leadership.
- Ensure the highest standard of data integrity and reporting automation, empowering the organization to make faster, more informed decisions. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, with at least 3 years focused on quality assurance, analytics, or operational excellence.
- 2+ years of direct people management experience, with a proven track record of building and developing successful teams.
- Deep expertise in designing and scaling QA programs (auditing, calibration, RCA) in a content moderation environment.
- Demonstrated experience using data to influence leadership and drive significant operational improvements.
- Exceptional ability to navigate ambiguity, lead through influence, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing quality programs for large-scale, global BPO operations.
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau).
- Proven ability to partner effectively with Product and Engineering teams on tooling and automation solutions.
- Experience presenting complex data and strategic recommendations to executive-level audiences.
- Strong program management skills and experience leading large, cross-functional initiatives.
