MEP QA/QC
professional responsible for ensuring the quality, code compliance and reliable performance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems across data center construction projects. This traveling role inspects installations, witnesses testing and commissioning activities, enforces QA/QC processes, documents non-conformances, and works with field teams, contractors and design teams to deliver projects that meet owner requirements and industry standards. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular site inspections of MEP installations (power distribution, UPS, generators, cooling systems, piped systems, fire protection, etc.) to verify conformity with contract documents, shop drawings and industry standards. Develop, implement and maintain project-specific QA/QC plans, checklists, and inspection test plans (ITPs) for MEP scopes. Witness and document factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), commissioning activities and functional performance testing of critical systems. Prepare clear, timely inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), punch lists and corrective action plans; track resolution through to closeout. Review submittals, shop drawings and equipment data for compliance with specifications and design intent; coordinate comments with design and procurement teams. Coordinate with contractors, commissioning agents, owners and design engineers to resolve technical issues, clarify scope and ensure quality outcomes. Verify installation tolerances, clearances, labeling, grounding, tiered redundancy paths, and required documentation (as-built drawings, test reports, certificates). Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, TIA-942, Uptime Institute guidelines, manufacturer requirements). Train and mentor field quality personnel and subcontractors on QA/QC procedures, inspection techniques and corrective action processes. Use project management and QC software to record observations, generate reports, maintain traceability of issues and support closeout documentation. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Construction Management or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of hands-on
MEP QA/QC
experience on commercial or mission-critical projects; data center construction experience strongly preferred. Proven knowledge of MEP systems used in data centers (UPS, switchgear, PDUs, generators, CRAH/CRAC, chilled water, piping, fire suppression and monitoring systems). Familiarity with relevant codes and standards including
NEC, NFPA
(70/75/110/13), ASHRAE guidance, TIA-942 and Uptime Institute criteria. Experience witnessing FAT/SAT and supporting commissioning activities; ability to interpret test results and specify corrective actions. Strong documentation skills and experience with NCRs, inspection reports, test records and QA/QC plan development. Proficiency with construction and QC tools/software (Bluebeam, Revit/AutoCAD basics, Procore, BIM 360 or similar).
