Oversees the implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan, product quality testing and all associated records- including Certificates of Analysis. Maintain accurate records of sample and new product testing, including current product specifications and requirements. Oversee the quality process in all departments. The QA Manager will be designated as both the FDA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and the SQF Practitioner / Implementer and will be responsible for the implementing and maintaining the Food Safety / SQF program for that location, including all records and quality procedures. This position reports directly to the Food Safety Director with accountability to the Division Manager.
Core Responsibilities:
Champion the Company's Vision, Mission and Core Values in every action and decision. Champion Food Safety and Quality Culture development among production, management, and outside vendors. Lead the assigned operation to meet customer Food Safety, Quality and On-Time-Delivery requirements, while controlling cost, and maintaining a safe working environment. Develop and maintain an engaged, positive and effective manufacturing organization through selection, training/development, and motivation of the workforce. Create and analyze key performance indicators and take appropriate action(s) to ensure safety, quality, production, and growth goals are met. Provide leadership and commitment in support of continuing improvements in food safety, quality, productivity, and delivery performance. Enforces Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE's), quality and proper documentation of processes. Enforcement of all company policies. Champion positive cultural change and employee engagement through collaboration, communication, accountability and a continuous learning environment. Strict adherence to budgets and resource plans, and monitoring performance. Coordinate and assist with corporate initiatives and participating on teams in order to drive best practices across Honeyville, Inc. Perform assignments and directives provided by the Director of Food Safety and the Plant Manager. Inspect, promote and maintain adherence to food safety and quality in the handling of product, ingredients and finished goods, using proper work procedures and compliance with Food Safety Standards as defined by the FDA, SQF, and Preventive Controls and Prerequisite programs. Support, implement, and maintain food safety and quality practices as required through SQF code and other regulatory agencies. Ensure the department meets all safety, quality, cost, policy compliance, and maintenance objectives. Assures implementation and compliance with applicable quality, food safety, customer, and regulatory standards. Oversee the Food Safety plan, HACCP / HARPC, Preventive Controls and Prerequisite Programs. Including the verification and validation of these programs. Product food safety and quality testing and oversight. Oversee Sanitation Program and verification and validation of cleaning methods for control of microbial, allergenic, and organic product cross contamination risks. Conduct / oversee internal and external auditing and ensure corrective action completion. Conduct Customer Complaint investigations and oversee the root cause analysis and corrective actions. QA Team management and training. Support new product testing and development. Minimum of 6 years combined related work experience in food production manufacturing environment. Be a certified SQF Practitioner, HACCP / HARPC Certified, and a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual. Sound financial understanding with the ability to formulate strategies based on financial data. Demonstrate ability to sustain improvements that align with company objectives. Working knowledge of sanitation and food safety principles and how they affect the overall success of the business. Demonstrated ability to perform root-cause analyses, suggest, and implement long term fixes for these items. Proven ability to collaborate with a wide variety of audiences with differing perspectives and frames of reference. Computer literate, including knowledge of and competence in manufacturing-related systems and Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Frequently required to stand; walk; use of hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; and to talk; or hear. Ability to lift and/ or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color and depth vision. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock or vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
