Job Description Quality Control Manager will oversee the quality-control program for commercial and federal government construction projects from $1 million to $10 million. You will develop and administer the project's Quality Control Plan, inspect each stage of construction, document project activity, review plans and submittals, coordinate testing, address quality issues, and manage final inspections and project closeout. They will work closely with Senior Project Managers, the Site Safety and Health Officer, subcontractors, engineers, testing personnel, and government representatives. The position requires balancing quality standards with project schedules and productivity expectations.
Primary responsibilities
- Develop and administer the project Quality Control Plan following the Army Corps' Three Phases of Control.
- Assist the Site Safety and Health Officer with the project Safety Program following
EM 385-1-1.
- Certify that submittals comply with contract requirements.
- Assist subcontractors with developing Activity Hazard Analyses for their definable features of work.
- Review plans and specifications for each construction process.
- Provide documented evaluations, assessments, and CQC assistance to staff and subcontractor personnel.
- Review catalog cuts and material submittals for compliance with plans and specifications.
- Ensure water, soil, material, and mechanical-system testing is conducted by approved personnel or facilities.
- Distribute written inspection and testing results to the appropriate agencies.
- Ensure preventive and corrective actions are completed promptly.
- Help eliminate or minimize recurring quality problems.
- Maintain and submit hazardous-material reports to the government environmental office.
- Conduct pre-final inspections.
- Establish punch lists when required.
- Verify that all deficiencies are corrected.
- Coordinate and conduct final inspections with government contracting and civil engineer personnel.
- Execute project closeout requirements and deliverables.
- Verify that project closeout documents are delivered.
- Coordinate with Project Managers regarding final payment from the owner.
- Ensure project closeout is completed accurately and on time.
This is a salary position with annual compensation between $120,000 - $145,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. - Minimum 10 years of experience as a Quality Control Manager on commercial and federal construction projects valued from $1M to $10M+.
- Current
USACE CQM
Certification required.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience working on federal government construction contracts.
- Strong documentation, quality compliance, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with computer-based documentation and reporting systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Procore experience.
- RMS or ECMS experience.
- Primavera P6 schedule familiarity.
