Job Summary:

The Quality Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and ensuring the quality of fabricated products throughout the manufacturing process. This role ensures compliance with industry standards, company specifications, and customer requirements. The technician will conduct inspections, document findings, and collaborate with production teams to maintain high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Inspections & Testing:

Perform routine inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished steel products. Use precision measuring tools (scanning equipment, calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) to verify product dimensions. Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, ASTM, and customer specifications.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain detailed records of inspection results and testing data. Prepare quality reports and communicate findings to Quality Manager Assist in maintaining calibration records for measuring instruments.

Process Control & Continuous Improvement:

Identify and report non-conformances; work with teams to determine root causes and corrective actions. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce defects. Support internal and external audits related to quality compliance.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

Follow all safety regulations and ensure quality checks do not compromise workplace safety. Adhere to environmental and safety standards within a steel manufacturing environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

1-3 years in a quality assurance role within a manufacturing or steel industry environment.

Technical Skills:

Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes and quality control procedures. Proficiency in using inspection and testing equipment. Understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, GD & T and specifications.

Soft Skills:

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills to work with production teams and management. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment:

Exposure to high temperatures, heavy machinery, and industrial noise. Standing for extended periods and handling heavy materials as required. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
