De Queen, Arkansas đź•’ Full-Time 1st Shift hours: 7:00AM - 3:00PM, Monday-Friday (Overtime as needed) đź’˛ Starting pay is $22.50 an hour Bell Lumber & Pole is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Quality & Inventory Control Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will help maintain quality and accuracy in our inventory, conduct inbound and outbound load inspections, and support wood flow through our De Queen peeling yard. Key Responsibilities Facilitate communication and documentation across yard operations, internal teams, and vendors, ensuring accurate records and timely reporting of discrepancies or issues. Audit and monitor inbound materials and suppliers for quality and compliance, document recurring issues, and coordinate with internal teams and vendors to resolve concerns and contain nonconforming material. Inspect and verify incoming materials for quality, quantity, and compliance, documenting and escalating any issues or rejected materials as needed. Verify outbound shipments for accurate identification, quantities, and documentation, ensuring all loads meet requirements before release. Serve as a communication link between yard supervision, admin, shipping, scheduling, loaders, grading/framing/kiln leads, QC, Broken Bow, and vendors. Conduct routine physical yard audits and reconcile system inventory to actual yard condition. Looking For Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Experience working outdoors in variable weather conditions, in a fast-paced, heavy-equipment yard environment Hands-on manual labor experience preferred (consistently lift 50 pounds) Previous quality control, inspection, and record-keeping experience is preferred
Skills & Requirements:
Strong attention to detail and comfort with counts, paperwork, and physical verification. Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn pole classes, lengths, tags, markings, barkie/peeled/GRW/KDW/KDF flow preferred Clear communication with supervisors, admin, loaders, QC, logistics, vendors, and other yards. Basic computer skills and ability to learn Bell systems, spreadsheets, and inventory tools. Willingness to stop, hold, and escalate suspect material when the check fails. Commitment to safety and proper PPE use Familiarity with inventory systems is helpful First 90-Day Learning Expectations First 30 Days Days 31-60 Days 61-90 90-Day Readiness Learn yard flow, material types, key locations, control check forms, inbound/outbound paperwork, and safety expectations. Begin owning routine inbound/outbound checks with oversight. Learn secondary counts, hold process, and system/inventory updates. Own daily check rhythm, vendor wood audit documentation, yard audit support, and discrepancy follow-up with limited supervision. Can independently protect load identity, count integrity, material status, and inventory visibility while escalating issues appropriately.
