Job Title:
CMM Programmer Job Description This role will develop, validate, and optimize CMM programs for complex aerospace components in a highly regulated manufacturing environment. You will provide hands-on programming and inspection support. Responsibilities Develop, validate, and optimize CMM programs using Zeiss Calypso for complex aerospace components. Set up, operate, and troubleshoot Zeiss CMM equipment to support both production and inspection activities. Interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to engineering drawings and CAD models to ensure accurate measurement strategies. Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in compliance with AS9102 requirements. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to CMM programmers and inspection personnel to build capability and consistency. Ensure adherence to AS9100 and internal quality management systems in all CMM-related activities. Collaborate closely with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to identify, investigate, and resolve dimensional issues. Interface with customers, auditors, and regulatory representatives, including agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration and Defense Contract Management Agency, to support audits and technical reviews. Manage CMM equipment utilization, including scheduling, calibration, and preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and reliability. Implement and maintain Prolink data collection systems to capture CMM results and support statistical process control (SPC) and process capability monitoring. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using CORE, ACE, and Lean methodologies to enhance quality, throughput, and delivery performance. Contribute to the restructuring and growth of the CMM department, including helping to define processes, standards, and best practices as the team expands. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering, including CMM programming. Strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles. Proficiency in Zeiss Calypso or equivalent CMM programming software. Experience with offline CMM programming using CAD models, particularly NX. Demonstrated ability to motivate and guide teams to achieve high performance and meet goals. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective actions. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interaction with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and projects in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment This role operates in an engineering and manufacturing environment that supports aerospace production and inspection activities. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You will work primarily in a metrology lab and shop-floor setting with access to Zeiss CMMs, LK CMMs, and related inspection equipment, as well as CAD and CMM programming software such as Zeiss Calypso, NX, CATIA, CAMIO, and Prolink. The environment follows ITAR and aerospace quality standards, including AS9100 and AS9102, and emphasizes precision, documentation, and compliance. Collaboration with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and external auditors is frequent, and the culture encourages continuous improvement, technical leadership, and the opportunity to build and shape a growing CMM department Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springdale, AR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
