- Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
- Job Description
- The Quality Control Inspector researches technical data and performs detailed inspections on hangared aircraft undergoing heavy maintenance checks, flightline and storage induction or reactivation, and back shop repair and overhaul activities.
This role ensures that all work complies with applicable aircraft and component maintenance manuals and FAA regulations, and that quality standards, tolerances, and specifications set by manufacturers are consistently met throughout the maintenance process.
- Responsibilities
- + Research and interpret technical data, aircraft maintenance manuals, and FAA regulations to support accurate and compliant inspection activities.
+ Inspect hangared aircraft during heavy maintenance checks, including flightline and storage induction or reactivation, to verify airworthiness and regulatory compliance.
+ Enforce quality control standards for material receiving, shipping, storage, handling, repairs, and overhaul to ensure all materials and work meet specified tolerances and manufacturer standards.
+ Perform inspections of aircraft components during assembly, installation, and adjustment phases to confirm workmanship and materials conform to manufacturer specifications and maintenance procedures.
+ Verify that all work-in-progress is properly documented, including detailed descriptions of work performed and corrective actions with appropriate technical data references recorded in the corrective action and work-in-progress sections.
+ Record inspection results on the appropriate forms, reports, and inspection tags, and promptly escalate any irregularities or unsafe practices to the Lead Inspector.
+ Conduct inspections using hand tools, flashlights, and mirrors to test the tightness and fit of airframe connections and parts.
+ Examine the assembly, installation, and adjustment of control surfaces such as ailerons and rudders to ensure compliance with Civil Air Regulations, company specifications, and manual procedures.
+ Determine the accuracy of installation of components in power plant and hydraulic systems using instruments such as protractors, micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify adherence to specified tolerances.
+ Perform maintenance and repair work on company equipment as needed and contribute to general shop housekeeping to maintain a safe and orderly work area.
+ Work with commercial aircraft airframes, including those involved in cargo conversion programs, and support inspection activities across the property as required.
- Essential Skills
- + 35+ years of experience in aircraft inspection, quality control, or quality assurance in a maintenance or repair station environment.
+ Strong working knowledge of aircraft maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, Civil Air Regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
+ Experience inspecting commercial aircraft airframes, including structural, power plant, hydraulic, and control surface components.
+ Ability to interpret and apply technical data, tolerances, and specifications using tools such as protractors, micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
+ Airframe certification required.
+ A&P license highly preferred.
+ Capability to use hand tools and inspection aids such as flashlights and mirrors for detailed inspections.
+ Ability to identify and report irregularities that could cause injury or make an aircraft unsafe or unairworthy.
+ Basic set of personal tools suitable for aircraft inspection and maintenance tasks.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Experience enforcing quality control standards for material receiving, shipping, storage, handling, repairs, and overhaul. + Familiarity with logging and tracking inspections on commercial aircraft programs, including cargo conversion projects. + Willingness to work overtime on an as-needed basis.

- Work Environment
- This role operates primarily on first shift, from 6:00 a.
m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime available on an as-needed basis. The position involves extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level. Occasional crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds unassisted is required. The work demands good eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges. You will operate equipment such as hydraulic press brakes, power shears, forming equipment, various hand tools, lift equipment, stands, ladders, glass beading equipment, rivet guns, and drills. Work is centered on a B777 cargo conversion program but may extend across the property as needed. The environment may include high-intensity noise, extreme temperature changes, exposure to materials listed on Safety Data Sheets, work at unprotected heights, proximity to moving machinery, and aircraft fuel tank entry. - This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $39.
12 - $47.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
