Job Title:
Sanitation Lead (QA Technician Lead) Job Description The Sanitation Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily assignments and duties of sanitarians within a designated production area, such as High Care, Ready Meals, or Savory. This role provides hands-on training and coaching to team members, ensures that equipment and areas meet strict sanitation and food safety standards, and reports performance concerns to leadership. The Sanitation Lead plays a key role in maintaining food safety, product quality, and a safe work environment through flawless execution, strong communication, and effective teamwork. Responsibilities Coordinate daily sanitation assignments and duties for team members in the designated production area. Support the onboarding and orientation of new employees and provide ongoing coaching to sanitation personnel. Train and educate sanitation team members in safety practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), test methods, and sanitation procedures. Review daily sanitation reports and ensure that corrective and preventive actions are implemented promptly to address any poor sanitation practices. Assign tasks and train team members on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information, and correct cleaning and sanitation of equipment. Observe and enforce strict sanitation specifications, standards, and procedures among team members. Interact effectively with Sanitation Department Leads to identify and address potential food safety or quality issues. Support the identification of root causes for sanitation or safety issues and help implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Enforce safety within the department through constant observation, coaching, and reinforcement of safe work practices. Collaborate with production supervisors from previous and next shifts to ensure smooth transition and continuity of sanitation tasks and responsibilities. Ensure that all sanitation activities are completed on time and in accordance with the Master Sanitation Schedule. Promote and enforce workplace safety procedures with all team members and consistently model safe work behaviors. Coordinate and conduct weekly safety training sessions with team members following the published training schedule, and complete all required training records. Maintain a working knowledge of all equipment and tools in the facility while strictly observing sanitation and safety precautions. Perform only job functions for which proper training has been received and fully understood. Maintain punctuality and adhere to company attendance policies, including working overtime and weekends as required by business needs. Perform other related duties as assigned to support sanitation, food safety, and production goals. Essential Skills Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead sanitation activities in a production environment. Strong understanding of food safety principles and food quality requirements. Knowledge of sanitation procedures, cleaning practices, and test methods related to sanitation. Ability to train and coach team members in safety practices, GMPs, sanitation methods, and proper use of PPE. Experience reviewing sanitation reports and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Strong communication skills to effectively interact with sanitation staff, department leads, and production supervisors across shifts. Ability to enforce and model safe work practices and workplace safety procedures. Capacity to function effectively under highly stressful conditions. Ability to maintain accurate training and safety documentation. Minimum of a high school education. One to two years of related experience and/or training in sanitation, food safety, or quality assurance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Preferred one-year certificate from a college or technical school related to food safety, sanitation, or a similar field. Experience working with Master Sanitation Schedules in a production environment. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in food production. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Demonstrated accountability and focus on flawless execution of tasks. Strong orientation toward food safety and product quality. Comfort leading safety meetings and delivering training to groups of employees. Work Environment This role operates in a food production facility where temperatures range from sub-0° to approximately 85°. The Sanitation Lead works on a 3rd shift schedule from 8:00 PM to 4:30 AM, including weekend work, with a typical schedule of no more than 40 hours per week. The position requires working in cold and variable temperature conditions, around production equipment and sanitation tools, while strictly following safety and sanitation precautions. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required and must be used correctly at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Carson, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
