Position Overview The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance within a lean manufacturing environment. This role is critical to maintaining our BRC certification standards, supporting production teams, and ensuring products consistently meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements. The QC Tech should be comfortable working both on the production floor and with documentation, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to help wherever needed. This position requires strong attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. This position is based in Fresno, California and requires working on-site at our Fresno facility on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine quality inspections and checks throughout production and packaging operations. Conduct line checks, GMP audits, sanitation verification, and pre-operational inspections. Monitor CCPs, preventive controls, and quality parameters to ensure compliance with HACCP, SQF/BRC, FDA, and internal standards. Verify product specifications, labeling, coding, weights, and packaging accuracy. Collect and document samples for testing, retains, and environmental monitoring programs. Assist with allergen control and foreign material prevention programs. Support investigations related to non-conformances, customer complaints, deviations, and corrective actions. Escalate food safety or quality concerns immediately when identified. Complete and maintain accurate quality and food safety records in compliance with BRC and regulatory standards. Review production paperwork for completeness and accuracy. Assist during internal audits, customer audits, and third-party audits. Help maintain SOPs, forms, logs, and quality documentation systems. Support traceability exercises, mock recalls, and verification activities. Work closely with operations teams to ensure quality standards are understood and followed. Provide real-time feedback and coaching on GMPs and food safety practices. Assist with training employees on quality and food safety procedures. Support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis activities. Participate in startup, changeover, and sanitation verification activities. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Food Science, Biology, or related field preferred. 1-3 years of quality assurance or food manufacturing experience preferred. Experience working in a BRC, SQF, or other GFSI-certified facility strongly preferred. Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, allergen controls, sanitation, and FDA food manufacturing regulations. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, lean manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and ERP or quality systems experience preferred. Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Comfortable working in manufacturing environments that may include varying temperatures, noise, and food allergens. Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety requirements.
