Full Job Description Job Description:
The Control Panel Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, and testing electrical control panels used in Building Automation Systems (BAS). This position works from electrical drawings and specifications to ensure panels are built accurately, safely, and according to company and project standards. The position requires the ability to achieve multiple objectives with timely supervision to ensure assigned tasks are completed properly and communication is adequate, timely, and delivered through the appropriate method, including verbal, written, and electronic communication.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Display knowledge and compliance with company Safety Work Policies. Consistently follows company control panel building procedures and best practices. Maintain a professional clean and organized work area. Proficient in using the correct tools to complete the necessary tasks efficiently. Proficient in reading & interpreting complex enclosure, sub-panel layout drawings, identifying issues and working with engineering to resolve them. Proficient in laying out enclosure cut-outs without supervision. Knowledgeable of drill, tap, hole, and trade sizes. Proficient at interpreting electrical drawing symbols and language. Proficient at reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics. Knowledgeable in wire types, wire sizes, and wire colors. Proficient at associating drawing symbols with bill-of-material components. Proficient at quality mechanical abilities such as cutting and mounting of components. etc. Proficient at accurately identifying, making, and applying panel and wire ID tags per design drawings. Displays professional workmanship to achieve required quality expectations. Manage receiving, storing, and shipping inventory according to company standards. Oversee inventory control procedures and ensure accurate counts are maintained. Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment to meet safety standards. Conduct regular audits to ensure inventory accuracy and identify any discrepancies. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Essential Functions:
Good communication and interpersonal skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and motivation to succeed in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with teams and collaborate. Time management and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks. Be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Be able to stand for lengthy periods of time. Must be available to work weekly and Saturday overtime hours if and when needed.
Qualifications:
Technical Degree or equivalent and 0 - 5 years' experience with wiring of control panels, automotive systems, aircraft avionics, or commercial facilities. Understand basic electrical theory. Basic proficiency in reading electrical schematics and knowledge of electrical control components. Uncompromising standards for craftsmanship. Familiar with specialized tools used in electrical wiring. Perform point-to-point testing and assist with customer factory acceptance testing, as necessary. Keep shop and warehouse clean and organized. Basic proficiency in Windows and Office 365 is a plus. Safety-minded and follow safety regulations.
