Serving some of the most respected wineries in the industry, we operate out of Livermore, CA, and Santa Rosa, CA. Role Description We are seeking a Quality Inspector to join our team in Livermore, CA. The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that labels meet predetermined specifications throughout the production process, performing final quality inspections, and assisting with shipping and receiving activities. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to communicate effectively with production, customer service, and other departments to ensure materials and finished orders are handled accurately and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Inspect labels on press prior to, during, and after production to ensure compliance with material, foil, colors, graphics, text, and other job specifications. Collaborate with press operators to resolve issues during production and notify the Quality Control (Q.C.) Manager of problems that cannot be resolved. Verify the accuracy of items on the Q.C. sheet and initial to indicate compliance. Attach appropriate samples to the Job Card and Q.C. sheet for documentation. Perform rub tests and barcode verification tests, attaching results to the Q.C. sheet. Verify roll change forms for consistency and ensure all specifications are met. Operate rewind equipment to wind/unwind rolls of labels to specified lengths and counts, ensuring quality control at each stage. Perform final visual inspections of finished labels to ensure they meet company quality standards before shipment. Prepare completed customer orders for shipment, including verifying quantities and job information, packaging finished goods, preparing shipping labels and documentation, and staging orders for carrier pickup. Process outgoing shipments using applicable carrier and company shipping systems. Receive incoming materials, supplies, and deliveries and verify shipments against packing slips, purchase orders, or other documentation. Inspect incoming shipments for visible damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues to the appropriate department. Route received materials and supplies to the appropriate production, inventory, or department locations. Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records and documentation. Coordinate with Production and Customer Service regarding completed orders, shipping requirements, priorities, and any issues that could affect shipment. Maintain clean and organized quality control, shipping, receiving, and staging areas. Assist in other areas of the organization as needed to support production and operational needs. Skills & Qualifications Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues and discrepancies. Ability to pass a color hue vision test (score of 90/100 or higher). Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with Production, Customer Service, and other departments. Solid understanding of the printing process and troubleshooting in a print environment. Ability to accurately verify quantities, job information, packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documentation. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time-sensitive production and shipping requirements. Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (G Suite) required. Ability to learn Label Traxx and shipping/carrier systems. Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, job specifications, shipping documents, and company policies. Strong math skills, including basic algebra and geometry, and the ability to apply concepts in all units of measure. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately. Education & Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in the printing industry, quality control, shipping/receiving, or warehouse operations is a plus. Other Skills & Abilities Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and assist across departments as needed. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability and availability to work required overtime, including weekends, based on production and business needs. Must be able and willing to operate a forklift as required. Forklift training and certification will be provided by the company. Ability to interact professionally and cooperatively with all levels of employees. Must be detail-oriented and possess strong proofreading skills. Ability to prioritize time-sensitive work while maintaining accuracy and quality standards. Dependable and able to work independently with minimal supervision when necessary. Must adhere to all company policies and requirements regarding confidentiality, non-disclosure, proprietary information, and protection of company trade secrets. Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands to operate equipment and handle materials. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, including paper materials, finished rolls of labels, packages, and shipping materials. Must be able to safely move and stage materials and finished goods within the facility. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to assess materials, print quality, and color matching. Work Environment The work environment involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles from inks and varnishes. The noise level is typically loud, and temperatures may range from 50°F to over 90°F in the production area. This position works in production, quality control, shipping, and receiving areas.
