Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a Quality Control Technician for a contract opportunity in the Pittsburg and Bay Point, CA area within a chemical manufacturing and technical production environment. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented QC professional who enjoys hands-on laboratory testing, accurate documentation, and supporting product quality from raw materials through finished goods. The Quality Control Technician will work in a structured, safety-focused lab environment where teamwork, reliability, and clear procedures are highly valued. Key Responsibilities
- Perform standard quality control testing on incoming raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods according to established specifications.
- Calculate, record, and report test results using accepted laboratory practices, Excel, SAP, lab notebooks, and quality documentation systems.
- Maintain retain samples, dispose of outdated samples, and keep quality records accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
- Maintain lab equipment in proper working order and perform equipment calibrations as required.
- Support investigations for out-of-spec products, customer complaints, corrective actions, and audit preparation.
- Follow all Safety, Health, Environmental, OSHA, PPE, 5S, and standard laboratory procedure requirements. Compensation and Benefits
Pay:
$24.00 to $26.00 per hour, depending on experience.- Job type: Contract/Temporary.
Schedule:
1st shift, Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.Location:
Pittsburg/Bay Point, CA. Required Qualifications and Skills- Perform quality control testing on chemical raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
- Record and maintain accurate QC data, lab results, retain samples, and quality documentation.
- Support lab equipment maintenance, calibrations, method reviews, and audit readiness.
- Assist with root cause evaluation, corrective actions, and quality investigations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality control testing environment preferred.
- Ability to work safely in a chemical laboratory environment, including handling chemicals, reagents, finished products, and materials such as toluene.
- Understanding of mathematical and statistical techniques related to product testing.
- Ability to follow standard laboratory procedures, QC methods, safety protocols, PPE requirements, and 5S practices.
- PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and database systems.
- SAP experience or ability to accurately enter test data into SAP.
- Strong communication, organization, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated work style with the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work respectfully as part of a team and support department goals.
- Flexibility to work overtime, extended shifts, or alternate shifts on occasion.
- Ability to sit, view a computer screen, and type for extended periods.
- Ability to stand continuously, walk frequently, climb and descend stairs routinely, lift up to 50 lbs, and frequently lift up to 25 lbs during a shift. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in chemical, adhesives, petrochemical, or technical production environments.
- Experience participating in customer audits, regulatory audits, customer complaint investigations, or corrective action processes.
- Familiarity with Lotus Notes and various quality or laboratory database systems.
