Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector ensures that medical devices and related components meet strict quality standards at every stage of production. This role focuses on visual inspection, verification of labels and packaging, and confirmation that products and drawings meet final packaged requirements. The position involves hands-on inspection work, data entry in warehouse management systems, and regular interaction with suppliers to resolve quality issues and maintain consistent product standards. Responsibilities Inspect medical devices that support surgeons to ensure they meet all quality and safety requirements. Inspect and handle materials, parts, and products at different stages of production to verify compliance with specifications. Inspect labels and packaging to confirm accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards. Verify that drawings and documentation match final packaged requirements before release. Perform detailed visual inspections to identify defects, inconsistencies, or nonconformances. Open boxes, locate and review packing slips inside, and follow packing slip instructions accurately. Check products visually, mark off inspection checkpoints, and document results in the warehouse management system (WMS) such as QAD. Use calipers and other measuring tools to perform dimensional inspections as needed. Read and interpret blueprints to compare actual products against engineering and quality specifications. Communicate and interact with suppliers as needed to clarify requirements, resolve quality issues, and support continuous improvement. Perform quality assurance and final inspection activities before products move to the next stage or are released. Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, and data entries to support traceability and compliance. Apply basic math skills during inspection and documentation to confirm counts, measurements, and tolerances. Use computer systems daily for email communication and data entry related to inspections and quality documentation. Essential Skills Hands-on experience in quality inspection or quality assurance within a manufacturing environment, preferably with aerospace-related products. Proficiency in visual inspection techniques to identify defects, inconsistencies, and nonconformances. Experience performing final inspections on products before release. Ability to use calipers and other basic measuring tools for dimensional inspection. Ability to read and interpret blueprints to compare products against specifications. Strong computer skills with daily use of email and data entry systems, including experience entering data into warehouse management systems such as QAD. Basic math skills sufficient to perform measurements, counts, and simple calculations during inspections. Administrative skills to manage documentation, inspection records, and communication with internal teams and suppliers. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding quality issues. Physical ability to occasionally stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects and tools, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear while performing inspection tasks. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs as needed in the course of handling materials and products. Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to perform detailed inspections. High level of comprehension and strong general, verbal, and numerical intelligence to understand technical information and apply it accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in quality inspection within aerospace manufacturing is highly beneficial. Prior experience as a QC Inspector or in a similar quality-focused role. Familiarity with warehouse management systems, particularly QAD, for recording inspection data. Comfort working with inspection-related documentation, packing slips, and production records. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when following instructions and documenting inspection results. Ability to adapt to evolving production and quality requirements in a dynamic environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Redlands, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
