Job Description

Job Description This individual will spend the majority of their time conducting inspections of residential properties, rehabilitation projects, and new construction developments to ensure compliance with housing quality standards and program requirements. They will identify deficiencies and code violations, document findings, communicate required corrective actions to property owners, contractors, and residents, and perform follow-up inspections to verify compliance. The role also involves monitoring construction and rehabilitation progress, preparing detailed inspection reports, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with developers, contractors, and internal departments to support the county's housing and community development initiatives. Skills and Requirements Must-Haves
  • 2-4+ years of housing inspection, construction inspection, rehabilitation, or housing quality experience
  • Knowledge of HUD Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and housing compliance regulations
  • Experience conducting property inspections, identifying deficiencies, and preparing detailed reports
  • Strong communication skills when working with residents, contractors, property owners, and internal teams
  • Ability to document findings, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliancePlusses
  • Familiarity with Florida Building Code and local housing regulations
  • Experience with new construction, rehabilitation projects, and construction progress inspections
  • Experience developing scopes of work and cost estimates
  • HQS Certification or ability to obtain certification
