Position Summary:
The lab technician performs quality testing on raw materials, in process and finished goods in support of the manufacturing process.
What you will be doing:
Performs daily analysis of raw materials, finished products, in process products and shipments utilizing the test procedures outlined in the laboratory procedures. These tests include true density, effective density, % volume loss, LOI, LOD, particle size, screen sizing, silicate analysis, feed analysis, bulk borax analysis, and dissolved borax/boric acid analysis. Accurately document results of all analyses in lab notebook and in the appropriate tab on the lab analysis Excel spreadsheet. Provide written and verbal feedback of test results to affected parties. Accurately enter lab data into the Access database and perform interpolation. Prepare COA's and issue to the customer. Perform weekly lab supply inventory. Inform Unit Manager or Plant Manager of issues, problems or concerns of the lab. Actively support the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Complies with all plant/corporate policies Cover vacations and other absences to maintain minimum staffing requirements.

Potters HSE Essentials HSE Responsibilities:
Actively participate in established plant safety process/programs such as Behavioral Based Safety (BBS), hazard ID's, near misses, safety work orders, job safety analysis (JSA), Is It Safe Tour and computer based safety training. Complete all required safety training and inspections on time. Perform daily tasks with safety as the #1 priority. Follow plant safety rules and wear required PPE. Report all injuries, illnesses or incidents immediately or as soon as it's safe to do so. Come to work Fit for Duty and be focused on working safely. Understand and support Potters Essentials Behavioral and Operational Principals. Practice good housekeeping and assist with other housekeeping tasks as directed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Minimum requirement: Associates degree in the sciences
Preferred:
B.S. degree in the sciences
Experience:
Two (2) to five (5) years in the chemical manufacturing industry, laboratory preferred.
Skills & Knowledge:
Computer skills such as Microsoft Excel, Access, and other Microsoft Office programs.
Analytical and numerical skills:
ability to perform mathematical calculations and use other mathematical concepts. Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and terminology. ts immediately or as soon as it's safe to do so; Forklift certification preferred
