Humility, Integrity, "Wow" Customer Service, Quality - Continuous Improvement, Hard Work / Smart work Scope The Quality Inspector - Wire Harness is responsible for inspecting, testing, and approving wire harnesses and cable assemblies before they are shipped to customers in the automotive, aerospace, and defense industries. This role requires proficiency in using precision measuring and testing equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and hipot testers. The Quality Inspector must have a keen eye for detail and the ability to identify defects and quality issues that may otherwise go unnoticed.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED Hands-on skill with calipers, micrometers, digital multimeters, hipot testers, and continuity testers Basic computer skills for data entry into quality systems Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or ability to learn quickly Able to stand for 8-hour shifts and lift up to 30 lbs; available for overtime as needed Sharp eye for defects — nothing gets past you Strong problem-solver who traces issues to the root cause Clean, accurate documentation habits Clear communicator with production teams, engineers, and management Team player who works well across departments Confident making go/no-go shipping decisions
Preferred:
1-3 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620 for wire harness and cable assembly) Wire harness, cable assembly, or electronics assembly experience Background in a formal quality system (ISO 9001, AS9100, or
IATF 16949
) Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specs
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Inspect in-process work, and finished wire harnesses and cable assemblies for defects Run visual, dimensional, and electrical checks against engineering drawings and customer specs Sign off on final Release Authorization before product ships Log inspection results and flag non-conformances immediately Support root-cause investigations on quality issues Set up and organize QC workstations and the receiving/quarantine area Coach production associates on quality standards and correct techniques Recommend process fixes that improve quality, speed, or consistency Audit quality records and help maintain the calibration system for inspection tools
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand, sit, and/or walk for up to 8 hours. Able to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, and climb. Able to push, pull, and lift from up to 30lbs and occasionally 50lbs. Able to use hands repetitively for up to 8 hours; grasping, turning, and fine manipulation. Able to use a variety of hand tools and operate machinery for up to 8 hours. Able to read, write, measure, and distinguish color. Able to wear all required Personal Protection Equipment such as safety goggles and closed-toed shoes while on the production floor.
