We are looking for a hands-on Quality Technician who will help ensure our products meet those expectations throughout the manufacturing and testing process. Job Summary The Quality Technician ensures that air handling units (AHUs), CRAH units, fan walls, and related cooling equipment meet customer specifications, industry standards, and VTS internal quality requirements. This position is responsible for in-process and final inspections, functional testing, quality documentation, and support for customer Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) . Because many of our products support data center and mission-critical applications with strict uptime and performance requirements, accuracy, attention to detail, and thorough documentation are essential to this role.
Key Responsibilities:
In-Process Inspection Perform inspections at defined stages throughout the air handling unit assembly process. Verify components, assembly, workmanship, and installation against approved drawings and specifications. Verify that electrical wiring and terminations match approved schematics and specifications. Identify potential quality issues before products reach final inspection. Testing Conduct coil pressure and leak testing using nitrogen, helium, water, or other approved methods and document results. Perform electrical safety tests, including hi-pot, insulation resistance (megger), continuity, and ground bond testing. Conduct functional run tests of fans, controls, dampers, and sequences of operation. Accurately document testing results and escalate failures or discrepancies. Final Inspection & Shipping Release Perform final inspections of completed units for workmanship, cleanliness, labeling, nameplates, and overall completeness. Verify finished equipment against approved drawings, specifications, and bills of materials. Complete and sign off travelers, inspection checklists, test reports, and quality records before units are released for shipment. Confirm that outstanding quality issues have been properly addressed prior to release. Customer Witness Testing / FAT Prepare equipment, test instruments, and documentation for customer or third-party Factory Acceptance Tests. Assist customer representatives and third-party inspectors during FAT activities. Record test results and observations accurately. Document and track punch-list items through resolution and closure. Non-Conformance & Continuous Improvement Identify, document, and tag non-conforming materials or products. Initiate and support Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs). Participate in root cause analysis using methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and 8D . Provide quality feedback to Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and suppliers to help prevent recurring issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality and manufacturing processes. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation for each unit or serial number. Support compliance with

requirements and applicable product standards and listings. Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and certification body audits. Ensure inspection and test equipment is properly calibrated, identified, and tracked within the calibration system. Help maintain complete and traceable quality records. Safety & Training Follow all VTS America EHS requirements, including lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and PPE procedures during testing. Promote safe testing and inspection practices on the manufacturing floor. Train or assist production employees on quality standards, workmanship expectations, and inspection methods as needed. QualificationsEducation & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or technical certificate in HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Quality Technology preferred. 2-5 years of experience in quality inspection, product testing, sheet metal fabrication, electromechanical equipment manufacturing, or a related environment preferred. Experience with commercial HVAC, data centers, or mission-critical equipment is a strong plus. Previous manufacturing quality experience is highly desirable. Technical Skills Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams. Experience using measurement and test equipment such as calipers, micrometers, torque tools, multimeters, megohmmeters, and hi-pot testers. Familiarity with HVAC components and refrigeration or chilled-water systems. Comfortable working with ERP/QMS systems and Microsoft Excel. Ability to accurately complete technical inspection and testing documentation. What We Are Looking For Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and product quality. Flexibility to support overtime or shift work during high-volume production or customer testing schedules. Working Conditions Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and energized electrical testing. Must be able to stand for extended periods, climb ladders as required, and lift up to 50 lbs. Required PPE may include safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, and arc-rated protective equipment where applicable.
