Job Description

Summary The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring products and manufacturing processes consistently meet internal quality requirements, customer expectations, and applicable industry standards. This individual will serve as a quality representative on the production floor, providing technical guidance, driving compliance to established processes, and partnering with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance to resolve quality issues. This position is best suited for an experienced quality professional who possesses strong quality fundamentals and requires minimal coaching in inspection methods, problem solving, and quality systems. Product-specific training will be provided. Responsibilities Perform inspections of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Conduct dimensional, visual, electrical, and functional inspections using approved inspection methods and calibrated equipment. Interpret engineering specifications, work instructions, control plans, and acceptance criteria. Identify, document, and disposition nonconforming materials in accordance with established procedures. Investigate quality issues, participate in root cause analysis, and support implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions. Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to resolve quality concerns while minimizing production disruption. Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to documented procedures, quality standards, and customer requirements. Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation within applicable systems. Perform first article inspections, process audits, layered process audits, and product verification activities as assigned. Support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections. Analyze quality data and identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Assist in developing and improving inspection methods, work instructions, and standardized quality processes. Serve as a quality resource on the manufacturing floor by coaching operators on quality expectations and reinforcing best practices. Escalate quality risks promptly and exercise sound judgment when product quality or customer satisfaction may be impacted. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in a technical field or quality assurance is preferred. 3-5 years of Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience within a manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail to identify defects and ensure products meet quality standards. Ability to analyze test data and inspection results to identify trends and recommend corrective actions. Familiarity with testing equipment, tools, and industry-specific quality standards (e.g., ISO, Six Sigma). Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaborating with other departments. Ability to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Positive attitude and ability to treat all team members respectfully. Able to work days or night shifts Preferred Qualifications Experience in electronics, semiconductor, photovoltaic, automotive, or other high-volume manufacturing environments. Internal Auditor training or experience. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience. Experience with ERP, MES, or electronic quality management systems. Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), sampling plans, and process capability concepts. Working Conditions Work is primarily in a manufacturing environment with moderate to heavy exposure to loud equipment and toxic chemicals. May involve working in shifts, including nights and weekends, depending on production needs. Physical Requirements Physical requirements include frequent walking in the plant, visual acuity to identify potential hazards and moderate lifting up to 50lbs.
