Position Summary The Quality Assurance Lab Technician is responsible for performing quality testing and inspection of incoming raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products within an oil, lubricant, grease, and fuel manufacturing and packaging facility. This position helps ensure products meet company, customer, manufacturer, and industry specifications before use or release. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in both laboratory and manufacturing environments. A degree or educational background in chemistry or a related scientific field is preferred. Previous laboratory, quality, petroleum, lubricant, or chemical experience is beneficial, and

knowledge is a plus. Key Responsibilities Complete required laboratory testing for incoming raw materials, bulk products, in-process materials, and finished packaged products. Test oils, lubricants, greases, fuels, antifreeze, and other related petroleum or chemical products. Perform testing such as viscosity, density/specific gravity, appearance, color, and other product-specific quality tests. Review test results against product specifications, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), customer requirements, and established quality standards. Accurately document test results, gather and analyze data, and maintain complete laboratory and quality records. Identify and communicate out-of-specification or questionable results to Quality Management and appropriate production personnel. Conduct retesting and additional product sampling as needed to support quality investigations and product release decisions. Operate, maintain, verify, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. Maintain product samples and retain samples according to established procedures. Assist with Certificates of Analysis and other product quality documentation. Support investigations involving nonconforming materials, product quality concerns, production issues, and customer complaints. Communicate regularly with production personnel and Quality Management regarding testing results and quality concerns. Make recommendations for adjustments to process conditions when appropriate to help ensure quality standards and product specifications are met. Monitor laboratory chemicals, testing materials, and supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels. Quality Management System, including internal and external audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities. Identify trends or recurring quality issues and assist with determining potential causes and corrective actions. Follow all company safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures when handling chemicals, petroleum products, samples, and laboratory equipment. Maintain good housekeeping and organization to ensure the laboratory and surrounding plant areas remain clean and safe. Perform other quality and laboratory-related duties as assigned. Critical Skills & Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering, Laboratory Science, or a related field preferred . Chemistry knowledge and understanding of basic laboratory and research principles. Previous laboratory, quality control, manufacturing, petroleum, lubricant, or chemical industry experience preferred. ISO 9001 or other Quality Management System knowledge is a plus. Strong analytical and quality analysis skills. Ability to gather, collect, interpret, and accurately document data. Strong recordkeeping and organizational skills. Basic mathematics knowledge and ability to perform calculations related to laboratory testing. Ability to learn and use analytical, scientific, and quality-related software. Ability to safely operate laboratory testing and calibration equipment. Understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to laboratory and manufacturing environments. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written testing procedures and specifications. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with production employees, management, suppliers, and other departments. Ability to work independently, prioritize testing needs, and support a fast-paced manufacturing operation. Work Environment This position works in both a laboratory and manufacturing/warehouse environment and may involve exposure to oils, lubricants, greases, fuels, chemicals, production equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
