The Quality Technician partners with Production to ensure molded components meet all specifications at start-up and throughout the run. This role performs in-process checks, reacts immediately to out-of-control or discrepant conditions by notifying the Shift Lead and Production Technician, and quarantines/labels nonconforming product. As the customer's advocate, the technician enforces Control Plans and reaction plans, documents NCRs, and supports root-cause/corrective actions to prevent recurrence. _______________________________________________________________________________________
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to walk and work while standing without assistance. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must pass a basic math skills test. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Become familiar with the Job Instruction Manuals (JIM's), especially the Quality Plan and sample boards, for each job being run; to insure that they have been understood by the production department. Monitor all production processes on a minimum hourly basis to ensure customer requirements are being met. Take hourly samples for inspection as specified in Quality Plan document. Perform form/fit checks, and dimensional measurements and testing checks as required by Quality Plan. Properly store hourly samples in yellow hourly sample bins. Properly store and identify first and last shot production samples. Remove all old samples and return to proper production process. Audit completed boxes of finished product for compliance to Quality Plan and customer requirements. Approved boxes are to be properly identified with inventory control label and quality assurance label. Measure and record statistical process control (SPC) requirements and input data directly into computerized SPC system. Monitor control charts and alert production to any out-of-control trends. Fill out inspection data sheets and hourly inspection log when inspections are complete. Ensure defect reporting forms are at all production machines running and are being filled out properly. Monitor and review production rejects on a minimum hourly basis. Ensure parts are truly rejects and instruct operators in proper determination. Count rejects by defect mode and dispose of to material control. Verify counted rejects equal those on defect reporting form. Assist in training the operators, mainly on inspection methods in order to insure customer requirements are being met - especially new operators. Initiate Part Discrepancy Notices (PDN's) whenever discrepant product is discovered and put parts "on hold" when needed. Insure all discrepant products are properly controlled. Inspect sorting/rework operations to ensure effectiveness. Maintain quality department records by properly accessing and fling part drawings, forms and JIM's. Communicate all recent issues and concerns with oncoming shift Quality Assurance Technician. Make sure all paper work is accounted for and up-to-date before handing shift over. Perform all other miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned by Quality Assurance Manager.
