Job Description:
Position Overview Trossen Robotics is seeking a Quality Technician / Inspector to support quality assurance operations across incoming materials, in-process production, and final product inspections. This role is critical to maintaining manufacturing quality standards, reducing defects, improving consistency, and ensuring customer-ready products meet both engineering and operational requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, process-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced robotics manufacturing environment. This individual will work closely with Production, Engineering, Inventory, and Operations teams to identify issues early, support corrective actions, and help scale quality systems as the company continues to grow.

On-Site Core Responsibilities Incoming Inspection Inspect incoming materials and components including metals, cables, bolts, electronics, and other production-related items Verify materials conform to engineering drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and company quality standards Record inspection results and maintain accurate documentation Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming materials when necessary Support supplier quality investigations and material disposition processes In-Process Quality Checks Conduct routine inspections during manufacturing operations Monitor product quality throughout production stages Verify process compliance and identify deviations from work instructions or assembly standards Support corrective actions to minimize defects, escapes, and rework Work directly with assemblers and production leads to resolve quality concerns in real time Final Inspection Perform final inspection of completed robotic systems and subassemblies prior to shipment Ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality requirements Complete inspection reports, QC documentation, and release approvals Verify labeling, packaging, cosmetic condition, and overall product conformity Conduct functional testing and validation checks when required First Article Inspection (FAI) Support Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities for new or revised products Assist in verifying dimensional and documentation requirements Help collect, organize, and maintain inspection records and validation data Work with Engineering and Quality teams during product validation and review processes Additional Responsibilities Maintain organized quality records and traceability documentation Assist with development and improvement of SOPs, QC checklists, and inspection standards Support root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives Participate in audits, workstation quality reviews, and process improvement efforts Escalate recurring or major quality concerns to leadership Qualifications Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and specifications Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, torque tools, and gauges Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems and inspection procedures Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Basic computer skills and data entry proficiency Ability to work independently while maintaining high inspection consistency Strong communication and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in robotics, electronics, automation, or electromechanical manufacturing Experience with soldering, cable inspections, or mechanical assemblies Familiarity with ERP systems or digital QC tracking tools Understanding of First Pass Yield (FPY), CAPA, nonconformance tracking, or structured quality systems Work Environment On-site position located in Downers Grove, Illinois Hands-on manufacturing and production environment Requires standing, moving throughout the production floor, and handling components and assemblies Why Trossen Robotics Trossen Robotics develops advanced robotic platforms used by developers, researchers, and AI organizations around the world.
