Occasional Position Overview Sterling Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join a manufacturing team in Joliet, IL. This position is responsible for inspecting incoming components, in-process assemblies, and finished products to ensure they meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, and quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on quality inspection experience who is comfortable working with precision measuring equipment, engineering drawings, ISO 9001 requirements, and manufacturing quality documentation. Key Responsibilities Perform visual, mechanical, and dimensional inspections of wire harnesses, cable assemblies, components, and finished products Conduct incoming, in-process, first-piece, and final inspections Use micrometers, calipers, height gauges, digital gauges, CMMs, and other precision measuring equipment Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and tolerances Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records Identify and document non-conforming material and maintain NCRs Collect and analyze quality data to identify defects and recurring quality issues Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities Work closely with Production and Engineering to resolve quality concerns and improve processes SupportISO 9001
quality systems, third-party ISO audits, and audit preparation Communicate with customers as needed regarding quality issues Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing operation Qualifications 2+ years of quality inspection or quality assurance experience in manufacturing Experience with wire harnesses, cable assemblies, electronics, or electrical manufacturing strongly preferred Working knowledge ofISO 9001
Familiarity withIPC/WHMA-A-620
standards is a strong plus Experience using micrometers, calipers, digital gauges, and other mechanical inspection equipment Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics Experience identifying non-conformances and supporting corrective actions Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively with Quality, Production, Engineering, Management, and customers Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.Benefits
