Job Description
PVD/CVD Coatings Quality Assurance Specialist — West Chicago, IL Step into a role where microscopic details make a global difference. As a Quality Assurance Specialist at Ionbond's West Chicago Coating Center, your day revolves around ensuring precision on critical aerospace, medical, automotive, decorative, food-contact, tooling, and fuel cell components. You will report to the QHSE Manager and serve as a key guardian of our customers' expectations. What a day looks like Begin with metrology checks: verify coating thickness, adherence, surface finish, substrate and coating hardness, feature size, and overall appearance. Capture every measurement with accuracy, documenting results using prescribed methods and procedures. Conduct audits under supervision—control plan and product audits—along with 5S walks, HSE verifications, QMS self-assessments, and customer-supplied audit forms. Maintain document and data control and update daily inspection logs promptly and precisely. Keep your inspection station pristine and compliant with safety guidelines while caring for lab equipment. Partner with operators and supervisors to keep quality and workflow on track; flag and resolve issues quickly. Build precise inspection setups and use precision instruments including gauges, calipers, and micrometers. Champion 5S initiatives in QC and wherever else you're assigned.
